So I went to my friends house to play arms. And as I was watching him play the ranked game mode, and I noticed there are a lot of Ninjaras and I asked him why everyone is using him and he told me that he was overly dominant. Apparently there is this grab move that can anyone, literally anyone can do. I told him that I didn’t get the game because I knew something like this would happen. Of course when a new competitive fighting game comes out. Some new people will make it competitive. But the problem with competitive is that there is a low amount of variety when it comes to characters mainly because one is more overpowered than the other. For example when smash 4 came out for 3ds, EVERYONE was abusing little Mac and it’s the same with arms as well. The point is I don’t go for competition anymore because the best players use someone or something that gives them unfightable advantage over the other. Of course many people would say I’m wrong but tell me, how often do you see professional smash players win with lucario or olimar. It’s always the higher tiers obviously because they are overpowered and easier to use than the rest of the fighters.
Remember nothing says skill better than OVERPOWERED.

as you said. Its how all fighting games are.
Most games will get updates to balance things out.

Even then when they patch it they will just move to the next most dominant thing so patches really don’t matter as much imo

yea but thats just how it goes. Happens with all games.
Hell that is happening right now in battlefield 1. makes me a bit mad because they change things up because some weapons are better. Then they just keep changing and changing. So its nothing you can get mad about. Its just how things go.

Ok first off fighting games do get more balanced as time goes on, example smash bros 4. AND NO bayonetta is not op. Unlike all the other top tiers, her moves come out slightly on the slow side. Mario and all the tops, have moves coming out at frame 6 and lower. Bayo however, all her moves come out on frame 7 except witch twist. Its the opponets mistake for hitting a bayonetta if she is witch timing, just as its your fault for attacking a marth when he is countering. Case closed. But because smash is really balanced, a low tier still can beat a top tier (except the puff, we need to buff the puff.)

I believe that smash 4 is the most balanced of all iterations of smash games but the point I’m trying to make is that it’s just the higher tier character being used the most and not because they like the character it’s just it’s easy. Remember when no one used pikachu but after the buff everyone started using him same with falco, cloud (when he came out).

True, but there was always a way to counter said characters. Its not impossible to beat them. Each character has a extremely exploitable flaw. Falco is a fast faller, and also heavy. So he gets pretty easily combo-ed. Pichachu is a light weight, making it easier to kill him. The only character that I feel that doesn't have a reasonable flaw is diddy kong. He needs a nerf. But regardless, his flaw is his recovery. Plus I main bayonetta, and I stuggle against toon link and rob. Because I easily get anti aired, and zoned out because of projectiles. All characters have a flaw, clouds flaw being his up b, not only does it travel a mac amount, but if he is hit during the apex and is stage spiked, its game over. Because he cannot tech it.

My point is, all top tiers can be countered with a different character, and said character doesn't need to be a top tier.

it was more a joke how she was broken originally and then balanced, leading well into your point

Lol, yes, any character can grab. Ninjara gets shit on by a number of characters, Master Mummy in particular. Also pretty easy to beat him with Min-Min. The only way Ninjara is overpowered is if you flail around randomly instead of baiting out his dodge and then punishing him. So at best he might be a noob-stomper, but he's not nearly as prevalent when you play people who know what they're doing.

No they can’t believe me they go through my shields I don’t even block anymore because my shield doesn’t work for shit. For cloud it took a day for everyone master him because I was losing to him left to right because he literally take no skill. I played him for the first time a week after he came out and won five matches in a row with no effort whatsoever ever so don’t even tell me that they are hard to use in this game anyone can do it it’s rediculously easy no skill needed try lucario and see how difficult it is

Tekken still has that annoying Ryu death combo strat in competitive. That's why I broke my controller, fucking annoying.

Arms is just grab'n'throw, grabbing deals insane damage so it's spammed endlessly.

ARMS is comparable to Dragon Ball Tenkaichi 3 / Tag Team / Xenoverse in that it has little variety and the gameplay's very repetitive, plus both are third person perspective fighters. It was fun but it eventually wore off for me.

This is why I never play fighting games online, especially once they try to make it "competitive". It's a game why get upset?

But games like this and Mario Kart have are meant to be played with people, whether locally or online. If you play it by yourself it gets pretty boring.

Yes that's why I said I don't play online, playing with people next to you is a completely different experience that I love.
