Almost every word uttered in this thread by proponents of the "what I would like" fraction is fundamentaly wrong by now.
I understand that the cfw will be in the sd card but once you get full access to the system file (internal memory) things might go out of hand if you mess up with the NAND right? Which makes me wonder if it's possible to install the ofw from the recovery mode.
What a wonderful grouping of words.
Whats on the sdcard is an entire copy of the NAND, minus the free space (maybe), whatever you do in the CFW gets stored on the sdcard. Whatever you do in the CFW that gets stored in ram - will be gone, as soon as you shut down the device. Because - ram.
Which makes you wonder if it is possible to reverse the entire process? Why? There is no causal relationship in that statement, whatsoever. The weather outside makes me wonder about chocolate muffins, boy would I like to have one of those now?
Also - no, no one currently is working on a method to flash a CFW to the nand, because that would brick all switches and not make them able to boot. (Wrong package keys.) So in the best case scenario, you would have to hack the Switch to boot now? With a jig? (If at any point a "replacement nand" modchip gets developed, you could put CFW on that - but there havent even been announcements, just people playing with hotswapping - and desoldering memory chips) Furthermore the RCM doesnt give you access to flash the nand directly, the nand recover mode that can get triggered as well checks Nintendo package signatures, having the OFW on a sdcard is the BEST method of getting banned quickly if you give N one of two abilities - either to check execution times on certain firmware processes (which will differ on sdcard), or to identify CFW - in some form, when you are going online with it.
Also, they'd have a real argument for banning you from their online services for once, because you use them with CFW (can run unintended code).
You'll touch the original nand when you back it up. Apart from that, from the current point of view, you'll not touch it again. In the future other methods might change that (fixing the supernag bit is still something people might be interested in, also maybe savegame copies from OFW to CFW, and stuff like that) - maybe people are also still working on hacks that would make f-g unteathered, those would be major alterations, but none of those are announced, or even hinted at currently. Apart from that whatever CFW does, should not affect OFW, and vice versa.
