Hi guys, my cousin gave me his wii with preloaded games on hard drive, and has a wiiflow loader.. while checking out some of the games, i noticed MH tri is ot working, i did some digging around the net and it states that changing the IOS will do the trick but when i set it to 222 or 223 nothing happned, i googled more and states that Wiiflow 2.1 runs a stable MH tri.. but my problem is how to update the Wiiflow, my bro and i did a stupid thing, we though if we DL the 2.1 file for wiiflow and copy paste it to the folder in my HD everything will be upgraded but nothing change, hehehe we assumed to much, we though it will be like upgrading the DS, anyway is there a step by step guide? By the way my Wii CHannels are DISC CHANNEL, WIIFLOW, MII, FORECAST, PHOTO CHANNEL, and SHOPPING CHANNEL only. and my WIi is 4.2U korean to eng converted wii. thanks.

It doesn't have to be in 222 or 223. I have base 37 in 247, base 57 in 248 and base 56 in 249. You can use Wani's rev 20b installer (not tried 21 yet) to achieve this. Also, have you tried Wiiflow 2.2? I think current rev is 304, has a few fixes whcih should help you along

One day is not enough reading and gathering information. Take at least 4-5 days googling & read the sticky topics as somebody said, and keep on asking questions, one at a time, and you´ll start to understand.
There are a lot of noob-guides around the internet.
I am also a noob, but have been reading a lot lately. People have also been very helpful here, and now I am able to (un)install wads & backup loaders on my own. I have not updated my cios´s via ModMii yet, I have been a little afraid of this as I see people getting problems when they do it. As somebody said on this forum: if it ain´t broken, don´t fix it.

True, but this guy has a problem that does need fixing. Some cIOS's don't necessarily provide you with what you need which is why there are many many opinions on which is 'best'. Updating cIOS and Wiiflow isn't a massive problem, a few detailed instructions and he should be sorted. Some hands-on experience will give him the boost he needs, soon all will become clear

The quote "if it ait broken........" was aimed at my current situation, not at his. Just an advice for him to take one step forward at a time. =)
And it´s true that some hands-on experience will give him the needed boost. That is why I encouraged him to continue asking questions.
One thing that helped me in the past days, is to always uninstall(via wadmanager)/clean up as much as possible, before performing any operations. Starting from scratch makes it also easier following guides.

Totally agree with the uninstalling of wads via wad manager. Although, this can be dangerous for 'noobs' (hate that word) as I know a few people who deleted system menus this way. They thought it was deleting off the SD card (trying to avoid doing it via another app or PC)

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
