While in sysnand, remove the SD card and format the system using the option in the settings menu.

All first timers totally freak when it connects to the Internet first. It will not update Sysnand, just verifying eligibility for formatting. Stay calm.

Never heard that stated as a reason, but I can give another really good one on why to do it. Just a few posts ago. Probably lost all his saves.
