On a PSP 1000 firmware is irrelevant. You'll just require a Pandora battery since you're above 5.03.

this guide was great, even before you made it v2

After completing this mod I got a 32GB card. Can I just swap it and format and that's it or so I need to put some of the modding files back to the card?

You're fine to format your memory card once you've done the guide.

Uh-oh, my games list now shows no games at all even though I just transferred many games into the card. The saves show up normally.

No worries, turns out something had corrupted in the new SD and even format didn't help. I ran chkdsk on it and it found and fixed an error of some sort. Seems to work fine now.

32GB is orgasmic! Bought mine from eBay for 13€

edit: Corrupted again after trying it out with more games. Either one of the games is corrupt and that causes the system to corrupt some files or this card is bad. Just a warning before you rush to eBay.

NEVER buy memory from ebay...odds are you'll get rubbish fakes. Invest in decent memory sticks and they'll serve you well....if it's too cheap, it's too good to be true.

This may sound like a stupid question but does this guide work for uk psp1000s because it says US firmware on filetrip.

Thanks for the quick response. I have one last question, if you do this guide successfully do you need to delete the update folder off of your ripped games or does the custom firmware block those updates from running? Also can you access the psn store/play games online or will it ask to update?

If the games are on the memory card, it can't access the update files like it does with the UMD anyway so you're safe.

And use PSNLover to access PSN.

Hello!

I'm thinking of buying used 1001 PSP. It's on 6.31 Official Firmware. So, the question is that can I softmod that psp?

Thank you already.

Yes, as stated a billion times, all PSP 1000's are moddable, irrespective of firmware by using a Pandora Battery and a MMS.

Hey prowler_, I like how you made re-did this guide (kinda). It's a lot easier for beginners to read, I bet you.

I'm on the older Prometheus frimware, if I want to upgrade to Prometheus-2 do I have to run the GEN D3 updater and then run the Prometheus-2? Sorry if this has been asked already, I couldn't find an answer.

probably a noob question but whats the exact difference between softmodding and the pandora battery method?

Well except for the only modchip for PSP (Undiluted Platinum) everything is 'softmodding' (meaning the mod for the system itself doesn't require a physical hardware hack). So your question should really be 'What is the difference between using an exploit vs using a Pandora Battery?'. The answer is that if your PSP is < 6.10 (IIRC) and if it is a 100x (phat) then either method will work. Any 100x can be upgraded/downgraded via Pandora Battery. If it is a 200x then the same holds true except for the latest version of the motherboard in them (TA88v3) that requires the TIFF exploit (ChickHEN). All 3000s require this too. PSPgo... No good solution yet...
