A lot of things I download just give me a .dol file and say "Run using homebrew". Well if I put it in my SD root and start up homebrew channel, nothing happens. So how do I run these .dol files?

make a folder on the root called 'apps'
make another folder in 'apps' and name it according to what program it will contain
place the .dol file within that folder and rename it 'boot.dol'
it will now show on the hbc

TOPIC POSTER, You made my night, dude.....

Follow MattJIP, ROOT/APP/FOLDER NAME/BOOT.DOL (reanme if the file is not boot.dol.

I wondered this when i fix modded my WII back in April, but I found the answer MYSELF, by reading the README.TXT, or if there wasn't one, I'd use GOOGLE.

I recommend Homebrew Browser - Put it on your Wii and you'll never have to worry about finding icons for the homebrew, and it makes it really easy to install new homebrew or update ones you already have.

I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    nope
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    it is L+dpad down+ select

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
@Xdqwerty you can use a "spawner" function on any object.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Or when your player dies, you can say in code, if enemy exists, do nothing, but if enemy does not exist, then create enemy at certain spot. (This would be a pain tho for lots of emeies)
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Easiest, simple way would be just restart scene, but player would restart from beginning.
