Ermm

You don't need an LT clip anymore.

Liteon drives are hackable with a PMT probe.

Thank you very much! I´ve just downloaded Jungleflasher, JF tutorial and the pack of lt 3.0 for slim

Another question :) I´ve seen lots of videos of people doing it as you said, using the console for power, bur even more videos (and the tutorial teachs) using the probe and ck3. Is it really necessary? What´s the chance of things go bad without using these jigs? I want to do it as soon and as cheaper as possible.

Thanks in advance!

The probe 3 is needed for key retrieval.

Other then that, your SATA chipset needs to be compatible.
In this link you can verify your chipset.

Otherwise you'll have to get either a VIA card or X360 USB pro v2 (has a connector for power build in)

I'm pretty much in the same shoe as the OP, coming from wii stuff and all.

So based on what I read, the xbox360 itself needs to be prior to a certain date code? So I can't just go buy one on ebay and expect all these hacks to work? Looking at one of those 250gb/Kinect holiday bundle...

Slim 360's can be modded (not all of them)

Flashing requires you to unlock the DVD PCB by drilling a hole in the controller chip or soldering on a Sputnik360.

An ODDE only needs a dump of your 360's DVD key, so it's somewhat more safe for your DVD PCB to do.

RGH only works on Dashes lower then 14719.

I was afraid of flashing my xbox too, the easier and simpler way in my opinion is trough Matrix Freedom and i did it all alone, only using the guide they provide....

My drive is a 1071 and i was uncomfortable of using the drilling method and besides i did not have the necessary tools.

Another newb questoin re: modding.

If I get the Wasabi 360 Ultimate, does it automatically extract the drive keys? Or something? Does this mean i just need to open up the Xbox, plug it in, and I'm ready to boot games off HDD?

Well it's said to auto extract the DVD key,

In theory it's possible.
However I doubt it.

You could give it a go.

I own the Wasabi360 and I've been using it for a few months now. I can say that it's pretty great although there hasn't been any new firmware releases for it for a while now. But it did automatically extract keys from my Xbox Slim Liteon 16D4S.

Hmm I see.

Well I never heard from the Wasabi team again after they announced the auto DVD key extraction.

But it's best to get a xkey (get's updated quickly)

Would it be possible to give step-by-step of what i need to do to get xkey operational please?

I don't have Xbox yet even so tips on which one is best would be useful also.

And a link to xkey website as well would be good.

Once i'm set up i'm guessing i just burn .iso to the HDD (like what i've been doing with the Wii already). If i have Xbox with 250GB HDD how many games can i fit on the HDD? Are they around 4GB each? Maybe i would be best with 1TB external HDD?

Appreciate any help for this noob and thanks also to Dinoh for answering my PMs!

Well....
You don't "burn" ISO images to the HDD.
You just copy them

You'll need to use an external since the internal isn't designed to work it with.

Erm.
Well It's pretty straight forward.
Just pick any guide and read it step by step.
Ofcourse replacing every FW update with the latest one.

Welcomes at all times ;]

Thanks Dinoh.

All I really need to worry about is getting drive key extracted then......(?)

Pity you're in Netherlands, need someone closer to home to do it. Does getting key need complete console or just the drive?

according to the xkey site on their new 1.23 firmware update they now have-Hitachi 0500 & 0502 support, does this mean key extraction is now possible on my Hitachi 0502BA version. if thats true i may end up getting one
