1. Sort of, except the battle layout is different but you still level up characters and equip items, etc.
2. Yes, you can either attack normally or use abilities
3. No, you can only walk to specified locations on a world map
4. What story?
5. Yes

1. I haven't played it so I couldn't say.
2. Yes.
3. I wouldn't so much as say no, because you can choose where to go from the map. However going to a specific location won't result in anything happening (unless it's a random event/enemy battle) - so to a large extent you're restricted to locations based on your current missions. I BELIEVE that going to different towns will result in different missions being available (although that may just be time based).
4. Very straight forward.
5. Yes.

This game is absolutely amazing.

I have never really been all that much a fan of tactical games (Not so much tied in with RPG elements either) but DAM! this game is just great, from the endless customization to hundreds of quests FFTA2 has had me hooked for weeks!

To answer your question, this game is nothing like Pokemon, but that does not mean you wont enjoy it.

The only real let-downs i found about FFTA2 was the main plot being a bit too kiddy, and the lack of Wi-fi

, although while the main story was a bit kiddy, it still managed to have it's moments and the side quests do make up for it.

Personally if you enjoy Tactical strategy games by all means play this one

Guessing you never played a strategy game?,basically your on a map and you move a certain number of spaces per turn(depends on the unit) and if the enemy is within range you can attack or use a spell or use items on yourself etc etc.....

It's alright. It's pretty fun. I'm pretty bored with it though.

Also,

Luminous arc 2 > Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 > Final Fantasy Tactics Advance > Luminous arc

Just my opinion after finishing all the games (Except FFTA2)

Now here's my take on this, considering you're on a site like this you probably have a flashcart, just friggin' try it already. It's not like you're going out and spending 30 bucks on a random game to give it a 'shot'.

Boring and complicated.

I'll give you that it's hard, but not those two things.

The game constantly keeps you on your feet during the story missions.

I played FFTA2 for a few hours. Less than 4, but over 1.

Honestly, it's not complicated, but it's extremely boring, IMO.

Play Disgaea, or Luminous Arc 2. I find them much better. Faster paced, and doesn't take like 30 minutes to beat one single *#U&ing enemy. (Luminous arc 2 > FFTA2 > FFTA > Luminous Arc)
