I would not really suggest it. Anything made past about mid 2009, maybe September 2009 or so, will likely not work ( http://gbatemp.net/threads/5-years-of-ds-roms-in-5-days-year-4.237156/ ). You will also be limited to SD type memory so 2 gigabytes at most which is not an awful lot, though you can certainly get some things done.

Anyway like all GBA slot DS code running devices you will need to patch the DS ROMs (homebrew is a different matter and can be annoying, especially as at times supercard might have had its own preferred header arrangement most would know as .sc.nds which if memory serves was a GBA header in front of it, oh and DLDI homebrew will probably not autopatch so get ready to manually patch it) with the patching program made by the cart makers, there are some standalone patches but not many and such things were rendered obsolete by flash cart makers that updated anyway.
Supercard have a nice guide that says what I would have
http://eng.supercard.sc/manual/mini_sd.htm
Filetrip will have software if links are broken there ( http://filetrip.net/nds-downloads/f...ercard-client-software-2-70-rumble-f5884.html ).
You will also need to either install flashme on your DS/DS lite or have a nopass. DS slot carts did feature nopass functionality for a long while but some dropped it as time went on and patches/hacks got tricky, not sure what goes for software nopass these days (at times you could reboot and run various things but I have no simple option for a "stick this .nds on your DS slot flash cart and run it).

About the only thing I would suggest it for is to use with Rudolph's DS ROM and save dumping programs, or Wood dumper for DS ROMs (Wood technically makes more accurate dumps but nobody cares about the difference as it does nothing for anybody).

Just found out he's doing alright, doing a lot of complaining too, rightfully so. Who wouldn't complain after having a seizure and being hospitalized?
