Hacking Helping friend with N3DS, he's downgraded from 9.8.0-25E to 9.2 but can no longer open settings app

Where do we go from here, we don't have any other entrypoints besides browserhax and menuhax.
We downgraded via sysupdater in menuhax, the DS rebooted and wouldn't load, so we removed the card, formatted it, put it back in and it booted, however now the settings app won't work. What's the next step, what can we do?

Try updating to 10.3 or lower using a cart and do the downgrade process again.

Kirby Triple Deluxe

edit: one particular one people are recommending is shovel knight which upgrades to 9.8

The legend of Zelda triforce heroes and the Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer game, will update to 9.8

Maybe you can update to 10.3 or lower with sysupdater with the update files for that

Also the web browser doesn't work either now, so booting into homebrew menu won't work

Could you set up homebrew, run pasta CFW, use that to launch sysupdater, update back to 10.3 using CIAs from the ISO site, and then retry the downgrade?

you can try sysupdater which can update, but sysupdater can cause brick and soft bricks and issues one of them being your system settings bug after downgrading, its recommending to use a cart

We have no access to the settings app, or the web-broswer, unless there's another way to boot into homebrew?

If you have cubic ninja or something else, you need install the payload new for 9.2

All we have is the N3DS and the list of games above, if we can't do anything with those are we forced to go into recovery and just update to 10.4 and wait?

Th only way the is to borrow cubic ninja off a friend or update to 10.4 and have no cfw.

Look if your boot.3dsx has 0byte. If yes, you need to reinstall it

So it seems because we have none of those games, that we just update to 10.4, and wait? or update, and ask to swap it over for a different N3DS and say "This N3DS is completely fine, but the firmware version isn't right, can I swap it over for a different one that might have a different firmware?"

Unfortunately not, we're from a small town in the middle of bum-fuck nowhere.

There's no way then you will have to update to 10.4 unless you know anybody with another 3ds and has a card newish. If you want you can check for firmware version the cart carries on 3dsdb.com

Maybe you could buy an sky3ds red button. It should be cheaper now. All you need it cubic ninja to use your 3ds

Don't update to 10.4.

1. Buy cubic ninja
2. Setup homebrew
3. Upgrade to 10.3 with sysupdater
4. Downgrade to 9.2
5. Setup CFW and emunand on 10.4
6. Sell cubic ninja

That way you can use the cubic ninja cart to get yourself set up and then sell it on when you no longer need it.
