currently raging at the wii over how i can get gamecube backups to read.
at the moment i have cmiosv10 installed through waninkoko's cmios installer rev5, with 0.2 of gamecube backup launcher installed as a channel. i tried cmiosv4 before with the 0.1xi gcbl, but no luck.
with the gcbl apps, i'm getting some stupid disc error: "failed to read dvd 263, error 0x3023a00 no disk". i'm sure that i burnt the disc properly (verbatim dvd-r, burnt at 4x) using an gc iso i dumped from one of my own discs (pokemon channel, id GPAU). i saw a post by wiigator about this, but i don't understand what could be wrong with the disc.

yeah, i know rev15~16 don't work properly, i have cios249 rev14 installed.
trying neogamma, i get "dvd read error (1101)". it's looking awfully like i have one of those d3-2, didn't even know about those suckers until recently.
it kinda makes sense that it may have one since this wii is a replacement (with serial LAH118x) from my first (defective) wii that arrived in december.

What I would do is burn a movie and see if it plays in a DVD player.
Then install DVDx and Mplayer CE and see if it plays in your Wii.

huh, didn't try that. both of the dvdx packages (DVDX, DISC) are installed, but mplayerce will not boot. or rather, mplayerce has not booted since i manually updated ios61 to get into shop channel. is this a problem if hbc uses ios61?

LAH118xxxxxx?

You definetely have a D3-2 drive. They started appearing in AU Wiis with S/N LAH1162xxxxx and onwards.
Meaning no burned discs whatsoever...
If you want to play backup GC games, you'll have to switch the DVD drive with a different one.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
