So, I've booted the twilight hack, installed the homebrew channel.
Why won't it read the backup I have in the Wii?
All I see is a screen of bubbles and an option to load the loader from the SD card

Ok the homebrew channel it's self doesn't load backups and I highly advise that you just step away from the wii and leave it be until you have sat down for awhile and read through all the info out there. and god Damn it don't people know what a search button is? there are god only knows how many guides and posts about this.
