OK I just received a free OnLive playpass and I'm not sure which game to get. Here are my choices

- LA Noire
- Mafia 2
- Deus Ex
- Afterfall Insanity
- LORT War in the North

Help me decide please!

I played Afterfall for a good 30 minutes and it felt a bit like Heavy Rain. I Love Shenmue/Heavy Rain style mystery type games. Alfo played LOTR and that was a good hack and slash but I'm not that into LOTR to want to follow the story. Iv been meaning to get Deus Ex and Mafia 2 for a while but those two always find their way to being on sale.

Deus Ex on sale though is like $25, Mafia II on-sale is like $5. I'd definitely go with Deus Ex if you're getting it for free.

I need to build up my Steam account, but I usually wait until games go on sale before making any purchases.

He's getting any one of those games for free, he just needs help deciding which to get.

Ah, gotcha. I've been told Deus Ex is pretty good (and I assume it is Deus Ex: Revolution, yes?).

Now, if your computer can handle Deus Ex straight on your system and you'd like a different game through Onlive, you could get DE:R for ~$10 via Steam (66% off sale).

My best friend is also trying to steer me towards Deus Ex. There are so many great games on that service. I just thought about Saints Row 3, Arkham City and Red Faction Armageddon. Also 3 really good games. I think my head is about to explode :P

Armageddon is really not worth it. The only redeeming feature of Guerrilla was its fun, open world destructive sandbox. Armageddon basically took that away, so you kind end up with a shit third person shooter with some cool destructable environments.

Saint's Row 3 is awesome though, I have the Xbox 360 version.

Haven't played Arkham City but I've heard great things about it from friends.

I loved Armageddon and was fairly far in the game before my three day trial ended. I like the Red Faction story over all so I just wanted to see what happened to Mars and the colonist. Saints Row does look like a lot of fun but something tells me I get more bang for my buck with Deus Ex ,especially with all the DLC. Question. Is all the shooting done in first person or can I go third person as well?

From what I've seen, the shooting is first person unless you're in cover. Plus I thought the only DLC was The Missing Link which I heard was rather mediocre. Overall for Deus Ex I've heard that it's a great game but the story really flops near the end and the boss fights are just terribly designed (since they're straightforward "shoot them 'till they die" affairs and the game emphasizes on open ended approach to combat situations, which includes not specializing in weaposn and thus making any "shoot them 'till they die" battle a giant paint in the ass).

And Saint's Row 3 has a fair amount of content if you want to go with all the side quest things. The main story is a good 10+ hours long. But all the missions should take up a lot as well as miscellaneous other things like assassinations and carjackings or whatever it's called. There's also co-op and Whored mode to keep you interested. It's a great game though, it gives you a return to that Saint's Row wackiness but also has some rather amazing set ups and moments. Also, dat soundtrack.

OK one more question. Is there a "Rumble off" option in Deus Ex? When I play with my 360 controller from my laptop, rumble just makes the whole connection go haywire (not an issue on my micro console).

I'm the kind of person that can't stand games where you're forced to play in first persson, the only game so far that made be bend that rule was Deus Ex Human Revolution, the graphics alone are pretty amazing with the highest settings and the rpg elements are really awesome. =3
You can costumise your weapons (add lazer sight to sniper rifle, add silencer to said sniper, etc, you can costumise and improve most of them), the game has a pretty interesting feauture which is the Augmentations, basically each time you level up you get a point, which you spend in Augs, which are like skills, in that game you will need to do a lot of hacking computers, going stealth mode, etc... If you're played Metal Gear games and like the going stealth kind of stuff, then you'll like Deus Ex, although there are bosses which you'll need to fight, the choices you do during game and stuff also seeem to affect people's opinion regarding you. =3
If you can get one of those for free, I vouch for Deus Ex cuz it's just awesome.

Deus Ex is on sale on Steam currently. Buy it, its like $10.

cant really speak for any of the other games. either didn't play them or wasn't impressed.

Deus Ex, regardless of the version. Invisible War was a bit of a failure, but the other two are great. Especially if you get them for free.
