Hacking Help needed - Ejecting disc.

Hey, i just opened my wii to see what was going on inside, before my chip arrives.

I put solder on the points, and everything went well

I connected the dvd drive back to the main unit and powered up.

everythings working well but i cant eject discs. so my wii sports is stuck in there at the moment, do i need to assemble my wii fully to eject discs?

this is a problem that is caused by applying too much heat onto the board, uve blown 1 of the fuses if you goto maxconsole theres a sticky on fixing it i dont have it handy atm but its in the hacking section of their forum

if thats not it im not really sure.

This should work, although I strongly suggest you use a replacement fuse, instead of bridging the points with wire...

um..so let me get this straight, you push the eject button but it doesn't come out? (I can eject my game wihtout assembling the wii back, thats how I tested)

Well, if you want, you can always just do this. Go to your nearest shop and get another wii. Take that one apart, and switch the inards of your wii with that wii. Go return the wii to that store and let them know the game won't eject.

Just be careful with your next Wii if you do this.

There is a word for that... fraud, any way you slice it.

Even if you say it's defective, someone else might end up with that broken Wii.

Nope, if you return it as a defective unit it will go to noone but back to nintendo.

By the way, this happens all the time. We shouldn't really be arguing legal things considering were discussing circumventing the security on a system.

And you know this how? I've personally seen returned game consoles repackaged and resold by at least two big retailers: Wal-Mart and Gamestop...

Much respect to pottageb for looking for the "right" way to fix this.

pottageb: try loosening the screws on the top of the DVD-ROM drive. A friend of mine overtightened some screws after installing his Cyclowiz, and then it would not fully pull in a game disc (it would pull it in 90% of the way, then spit it back out). If you had Wii Sports in the drive before the mod, then maybe it is too tight to allow it to eject.

yea.... take the shield off, and plug the power in and untighten the screws little by little... make sure it looks even, and keep trying to eject...

thanks alot guys, still not working, i keep trying to adjust the screws but its still doing the same routine.

the disc spins for about a second then just stops.

i really dont know what to do.

Are you sure you didn't pull any wires during dis-assembly? Check all the connectors to the drive whether you touched them or not (ribbon, plug, etc.). Check the four thick wires right near the soldering points for your chip on the corner of the pcb (yellow, grey, blue, white) to make sure they didn't get pulled loose.

If you did put the soldering iron anywhere check for bridged connections, solder splatter anywhere, or any burn marks.

Find someone near you who can fix your wii
Most people who earn their living by modding can usually also fix your wii

got this working

just had to unscre top of dvd drive and manually take out the disc, now its insterting/ejecting perfectly
