So I received a Nintendo switch recently that had a problem with docking. Long story short this switch was a the brink of collapse since after I replaced the necessary IC a lot of problems showed up. I've solved most of them by replacing the MAX IC behind the battery connector, replacing the micro SD FPC, Pi3USB, and the USB port, and while most of the other issues are gone, right now the switch decided that it doesn't want to go to sleep mode. Every time I press the power button to go to sleep mode, the screen is black for a second or two, and then it wakes itself up. I thought it would've been a faulty power button, but the problem persists even after replacing it. I really don't want to be changing more parts on this switch as it's already a huge loss for me (both in time and revenue) but the only thing I'm thinking of is changing the FPC for a donor one.

Has anyone seen anything like this and if so, how did you solve it?

Maybe try disconnecting the joycon rails from the board and see if it keeps happening, also the fan connection is prone to do funny things like shorting,

Have you checked under touch screen calibration if it "clicks" on the screen? If so something might just be stuck in the digitize ribbon cable

EDIT: https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/Nintendo-Switch/How-to-Run-the-Touch-Screen-Test-1510344.html
I can check, but that really wouldn't explain why it wakes up. The touch screen doesn't really have the ability to wake the switch up. And yes, it works properly. I just checked

Wondering if it's like a PC in sleep mode. If you "Jar" anything [ie mouse] it wakes up.

Are there "Sensitivity Adjustments" on those?
not really, it does wake up from input from the joycon (by pressing a face/bumper button ), so it doesn't have any sensitivity controls as it's just a digital input

Did some googling and most people said that it was related to the OS and got fixed with things like turning on and off airplane mode, updating or resetting the console.

¿Is the console hacked?
¿What firmware does it currently has?

Yes it's V1 hacked, it has the latest firmware of both the switch OS and the Atmosphere

I almost wanna see if factory resetting it via Recovery Mode would make a change if it's Software related.
But before that, do you have any sysmodules active on the system?

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
