Hacking Header Question

Okay so I am looking into patching some of my roms using my own private header, but the only games I own that can go online is Pokemon Y and Omega Ruby.

Would using a CARD2 header work for CARD1 roms?

EDIT: I may have access to SSB4 and Kirby Triple Deluxe, and form research they are CARD1 games with online capability, so would it be better to use either of those to patch my roms?
