You can import your save from the digital version manually using JKSM! Just did it and can confirm that it is working a-okay.

It's worth noting that the SP has a new translation that includes WAAAAY more dialogue than the original, plus it has the JP voices now, so going back to replay some stages might be worth it for more reasons than just completing the challenges and grinding!
