We could always split big files into parts. That way if you feel like your DS won't be able to handle a big 50 MB download, you could always let it go through 5 10 MB downloads.

I only used that as an example (I wanted at least 4 possible titles for the sections)

AFAIK there's hasn't actually been any suggestions to WHAT should be the suggested 'sections'
I could've quite easily have said 'Acekard' 'Supercard' 'R4' 'DSTT' etc etc - but instead I used 'Filetrips' own 'NDS Homebrew' section as a guideline
(& before any1 says it - I KNOW there's not a 'Skins' section under 'NDS Homebrew')
 
I think stormwave should focus on getting a working model up and running before thinking about different 'sections' or adding firmwares or skins.

Well whenever you code a model or prototype you want to build it up so it's flexible enough to add these ideas, so it's a good idea to know what the product should atleast look like in the final stage.
 
Does anybody with design skills fancy making a logo for me? I think I will stick with the name "HBWare" (despite the Wii thing), I'm throwing the UI together and could really use a logo for the top screen (like the "DSi Homebrew Channel" example one on page #1).

Also, for scrolling the list of downloadable homebrew, would people prefer a scroll bar or a iPhone style "flick" scrolling thing?
 
Don't really know what an iPhone 'flick' actually looks like but if it's anything like the Nokia 5800 'enertia' scrolling - then Yes - but also D-pad wouldn't go amiss

Also - any size preference for logo ?? - don't really want to make it too big if you're gonna have info boxes on top screen. I'm not that good @ graphics anyway - but may have a stab

Why not have both? Like Sakura/Moonshell 2 has.
 
I'll do the "flick" or "enteria" scrolling (or whatever it's called) then.

I suppose I could do both, just means more work, hehe.

As for the logo size, I'm not really sure. Something like 150x80 maybe? I can always resize it if I need to. (Can you save it as a PNG with transprarency?)
 
Okay, I've just uploaded a sample of the UI (very very basic so far). It includes a list, the background, and the inertia scrolling thing. I just wanted to see what yas think at this stage befor eI carry on. Any thoughts?

this prob sounds redundant but

*need a logo
*you could put made by stormwave, alpha 0.01 in the right hand corner
*make a soft-reset in scdstwo?

I'm not sure about anyone else, but it seems a little unresponsive to me. I assume you are doing something similar to -
(excuse the obvious palib functions, but it should be simple to see what's going on).

My algorithm was similar, but not exactly the same. Mine would only intertia scroll when the stylus was not touching the screen. Your algorithm means you can continue scrolling (or speed up) by flicking again, which is much smoother. I prefer your one, so I implemented that.

Any sluggishness left would only be a frame rate issue (but the frame rate isn't too bad).

It's pretty senstive now (*= 0.95), but I quite like it like this. Sensitivity is personal preference though, so I might add an ability to change it in an INI file (when I get to that point). If people feel it's too sensitive though, I can always reduce the default.
 
Works fine on the DSTwo.

Anyways, I would suggest a small selecting cursor that goes around each box. This way you can scroll through the list with the d-pad, and when scrolling with the touch screen as it slows down to a stop (whenever you flick it and it goes for awhile and it slowly just stops) the homebrew with the cursor around it can automatically align so that 4 blocks show on the screen (instead of some of them being cut off).

I know it's hard to explain :\
