Hacking Hard drive question

As part on hacking my wiiu, I formatted my externall hdd with my wiiu, is there any program that will read it? Im after deleting some back ups off it. Thanks

GParted (linux) notices it, and can clone it to a same sized drive. But as far as I know, you can't read the files.
