Thanks all works fine with your guide and with multi game in one folder ! :)

How can i access that black settings menu in Metal slug ?

Press Zr Button (or R2 if are PSX user) the buttons to move I don't remember well maybe Y to select option and X or A to back. Then In the Test mode of Neogeo A button Lets change options and X back.

Thank's man...and do you know what game works well? I tried with Mario Kart 64 and Super Smash Bros...

Emulators with the command of Nes:

Amstrad cpc
Atari 2600
Atari 7800
Game gear
Game boy
Gameboy color
Lynx
Megadrive
Master system
Msx
Neo geo pocket
Turbo grafx
Vecx
Virtual boy
Wonder swan
Zx spectrum

Emulators that need another command other than nes:

Cps1
Cps2
Mame 2000
Mame 2003
Neo geo
Nintendo 64
Snes

As it is possible that the core genesis_plus_gx, which takes the sms, megadrive, game gear fails to make the sg-1000 run.

I have no idea, i switched to MAME2003 and that works perfectly fine with multi roms in one folder. ;)

Nice, so did you follow the exact same steps but with a different module (MAME2003)? Or did you have to do anything different.

I assume you can play Neo Geo now!

Not exactly the guide because there are some steps you don't need to do. If you are interested in the MAME2003 just PM me. ;)

where do i get the neogeo.zip ? dont see that one

Watch the video again, @nesito add something that will show you the way. ;)

I got my Metal Slug ROMs from the MAME section of a certain bird/wonderland website. I still use the old method of including neogeo.zip in the game folders themselves, and I use the neogeo core. Works fine

Metal Slug 2 has some annoying slowdown (inherent in the game itself, not the emulator). Metal Slug X is a remake using MS3 engine, and it about 10MB larger, but it runs better.

hmm probably not... but i can't remember if i used 2010 core or if i directly installed 2005 core. i'll try deleting all snes saves just in case. thanks for the advice! another thing is, are long filenames like "Super_Star_Wars_-_The_Empire_Strikes_Back__U___V1.1_____.smc.7z" still a problem? games seem to run normally but don't know if it's affecting savestates
EDIT: i also realise that some snes 7zipped files have names with [!] . can someone confirm it is a problem? or was it just with snes9x2010 core?
Edit name and Change V1.1 to V11 and then reupload game and saves will work. Also all my snes games have !. I won't get one without it in it.

Why don't you just create a folder in etc/libretro called something like overlay and then change overlay_directory in the retroarch.cfg file to
Code:
overlay_directory = "~/overlay"
? This way you will install the overlay files in that directory instead of the hidden one and you will be able to uninstall them.

This was my original idea, but I did not want to replace the retroarch.cfg file since that would clear any settings that were saved by the current user. I did not want to have them need to sync to have that entry changed and overwrite settings. That is the main reason why I was trying to find another way to remove the files, but if I am unable to I might have to do it this way to create a new overlay folder and then change the default location in the config file.

I assume there is no way to access the parameters within the config file without replacing the .cfg itself?

This is not mame2003 but FinalBurnAlpha / NeoGeo, but that's what I'm using and works:

INSTALL:

1.- Visit https://github.com/pcm720/retroarch-clover
2.- Download fbalpha2012_neogeo.hmod from core_modules_extra in that repo and the latest retroarch.hmod.
3.- Download libretro_core_template.hmod from that repo
4.- Rename libretro_core_template.hmod as "bios_files.hmod".
5.- Copy bios_files.hmod to your Hakchi2 directory inside "user_mods".
6.- Enter into user_mods/bios_files.hmod/etc/libretro and create a "system" folder.
7.- Copy neogeo.zip file (neogeo bios) inside that folder.
8.- In Hakchi, install both modules (fbalpha2012 and bios_files). I would install also fba and the last retroarch.

ADD GAMES:

1.- Drag the zip file with the game to Hakchi. Example of roms that work for me (ok for testing): cyberlip.zip, mslug.zip, wjammers.zip. Click on "Import as archive".
2.- Edit the path of the game and change /bin/zip with /bin/neo.
3.- Add the game cover.
4.- Flash.
5.- Profit!

Hope this helps, it works for me.

Are you sure this works w FinalBurnAlpha? Some people here tried your steps but doesn't seem to work. I read somewhere the bios setup (without placing neogeo.zip in a game folder) only works w MAME2003

Can you confirm u setup FBA module this way and not MAME2003? Thanks.

Well I did the same as sromeroi posted. I did it with Shock Troopers, used the bios_files.hmod template instead of using the core_template rename. Synced everything and was able to get the neogeo.zip bios into the correct bios folder, then installed the fbalpha2012_neogeo.hmod. Synced the game afterwards and it worked fine. I loaded it up and worked.
