will that let me pick which character I want ? Like I said, the game works, I just don't have a controller with enough buttons to allow me to choose characters.....unless I can use my second controller...
your thinking of that game tmnt or simpsons arcade but should just get the 2p editions... versions of the cabinet that was specifically made for smaller venus /2p only and it will let you choose any character, get those versions and it will play fine
wiki:"The original coin-operated game was distributed to the arcades in two variants: a standard 2-player version that allowed either player to choose their character and a deluxe 4-player version with each player controlling a different character."

I read somewhere that STELLA can support .bin files, however hakchi2 doesn't seem to recognize .bin as being a valid format. Is there a way around this?
Thanks!

Look for atari games with the extension of .a26 they work perfect!

Code:
https://www.google.ca/#q=atari+.a26+roms

I just checked my atari 2600 games..I have some that are .bin and they work..do you have /bin/a26 (rest of command line) in the command line?

I dont have them zipped in the games folder..

Wow. Never done that before but I got it. Thank you pcm720!

So I have added the .so and info files. once the files are renamed do you just add it to user_mods and install like any other one? Is there a script file too?

I understand the /bin/name part to use the core for the game in hakchi. Just want to make sure I did this part right.

Basically, the file structure of mess2014_libretro.hmod should look like this:
Code:
/etc/libretro:
             /core/mess2014_libretro.so
             /info/mess2014_libretro.info
/bin:
    /mess2014
/install
/readme.txt (not necessary)
The contents of mess2014 (/bin/mess2014) should look like this:
Code:
#!/bin/sh
exec retroarch-clover mess2014 "[email protected]"

I have 2 player versions of the simpsons and the tmnt games. I need a version of Quiz and Dragons that let's me pick my character. I can't figure out how to do it. What button do I need to push ? I'm aware that I can map the controls, but I don't know what button lets you pick certain characters.

ahh yes i remember that game its cool.. so bascially unless you have a pad with tons of buttons im not sure its worth all the remapping nonsense! mine is B =1, Y= 2p, X= 3p, A =4p (wii classic pro controller), some people i think use select on nes pads to facilitate other commands etc but still only 3 buttons..

Hi Cluster, would adding games and removing games frequently degrade the flash? I'm under the impression that writing to flash has a finite number of times.

Also thank you for your hard work, it is very much appreciated. To all who can donate please make sure to give this man some well deserved monies!

Hi. I'm having trouble getting Retroarch to keep an aspect ratio setting after I exit a game. Regardless of core, If I launch a game using Retroarch from the NES mini menu, go into the Retroarch menu, and navigate to the aspect ratio settings, after setting it to "Core Provided" and exiting the Retroarch menu, the game display with the core-provided aspect ratio. But if I exit the game to the NES menu and relaunch it, the aspect ratio reverts top 1:1 PAR. This seems to only happen when I select "Core Provided" ... other aspect ratios don't revert on game exit.

I'm using the current versions of everything, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

Check the main picture settings for the NESC. That can override the RetroArch setting. For example, if I have it set to 4x3, SNES games will start at 4x3, even if I have the settings saved to 1:1.

I have the Famicon mini, is there any way I can play games that require more than 2 buttons? Snes games, n64, etc As the controllers are attached to the console, is there any solution to this? or a way to connect another controller to the famicon mini?

I don't think this has ever been asked or attempted...! Bummer. I can't see any way, shape or form of doing this. Other than *cringe* cutting the cable and wiring another controller to it. But that may not even be possible.
Good luck!

Thanks for helping on this.

I have set it all up as shown but I cant get anything to run so I may have done something wrong.

Do AppleII and C64 games require a Bios file? If so where do I place them?

I am seriously grateful for your help. Thank you!!

Are you saying each write cycle removes some available memory?
What I mean is if it shows you have like 290 available memory and you starting adding games on and taking them off. That 290 will start to go down. Even if you don't have the game on anymore. It will give you your memory back on the left side but it will also take memory from you from the right side.

I remember someone awhile ago zipped all the nes files and used retroarch to run them with a global command. Has anyone tried this? Does anyone remember what page in this "book" of posts it was on?

Am I the only one who can't get the Save State Manager working?

I've plugged the NES mini directly to the computer with the correct micro USB cable... The green light came on in Hakchi GUI... Opened Save State Manager window... Waited 15-20 minutes and absolutely nothing comes up.

I know I've got saves that need cleaning up. But I can't seem to access them. Any insights into this problem?

It's more than possible that MESS core simply doesn't work or you haven't set it up properly.

I don't know if you need any BIOS files for C64 and Apple II to make them work on MESS, but looks like you can try using VICE for C64 and Linapple for Apple II.
Cores from RetroPie should work on NESC just fine (at least, some of them).

So as I have obvioulsy shown already I am still new to all of the file structures here. I hav figured out the .SO files and and .info but which parts of vice would I need to make the hmod with?

Thanks again.
