With RHDN down... does anyone have the patch that translates the japanese prototype of Monster Party called “Parody World: Monster Party” into english? That would be totally awesome if so!

Quick question for anyone in PAL regions - has anybody had any successes with NES/SNES PAL ROMs at all? There are a few games which I'd rather play the PAL version for nostalgic reasons, but I won't bother if they don't run properly.

Someone said previously that Nestopia was not running PAL properly, but I thought one of the main reasons for using Nestopia over FCEUmm was PAL compatibility?

I'm having issues with installing games again. I used hacki2 when it first came out, I throw some extra games on it, leaving the 30 games already installed. I never used my NES Classic since. Now that you put SNES, Genesis, etc. games on it, I wanted to try again. Problem was I didn't remember how I put games on it in the first place. I posted here a week or so ago and got this response:

I upgraded from 2.11 to 2.13e.

These are the steps I took:

* keep in mind the method below will NOT keep your old games (what you wanted). If you wanted to keep your games you would need to also copy your "games" folder to the new hakchi.

1) d\l Hakchi 2.13e and install it in a new folder.
2) copy the "dump" directory from old Hakchi to new (folder won't be on new version so copy old dump over)
3) d\l the latest version of RetroArch and unzip it to a new folder. https://github.com/ClusterM/retroarch-clover
4) copy any mods *.hmod from the RetroArch folder to the "user_mods" folder in your new hakchi 2.13e. (retroarch.hmod + any additional .hmod for the systems you will be using)
5) goto the "Install Modules" tab in hakchi 2.13e and select the "retroarch" + any additional modules (cores) you want to install ie) SNS9x2005
6) Hakchi should then prompt u to install Retroarch + any modules.
7) load all your games to Hakchi.
8) If you want custom folders.. goto folders tab and select the last option for custom folders (use the folder manager)
9) Click the sync button to sync your games, when prompted by folder manager create and setup your new folders however you want them (30MB each folder)
10) Go through the sync process, takes a while w a lot of games. It's normal to have to power off and on the system several times.. just follow the instructions when prompted.
11) Enjoy!

First issue. I don't have the old dump folder anymore, I deleted the old Hakchi2 folder. Whatever games I added on my Classic, I can't remember which or how many unless I hook it back up. I think I added 15. So I just downloaded 2.13e. I copied over all the .hmods included the folders from RetroAarch to the user_mods folder like was told. When I get to #5 I run into trouble. Screenshots below.

Their is no RetroArch when I go to Modules in hakchi. I'm just so lost at the moment. Any help would be appreciated.

I need somebody with 3rd party classic controller which is NOT working with NES Classic Mini, to test my patched clovercon driver. We trying to understand why some controllers are not working.

Issue thread: https://github.com/ClusterM/hakchi2/issues/180
Need to test mods from this comment: https://github.com/ClusterM/hakchi2/issues/180#issuecomment-287180321

Btw, new release soon :)

I'd tried all of them and each of them failed to read my Wii pro controller. I do hope you can figure this problem out, @Cluster. Best of luck!

I think you are good to go, if you used a previous version of Hakchi, that last screenshot is normal, just follow the steps.

OH, with new version we can use USB devices? USB sticks for more memory?
Nah that's probably not going to happen, I think Honeylab was working on something, but the solution so far involves opening your NES mini and involves soldering. Hopefully I am wrong, we can keep dreaming.

The list says Nightwarriors: darkstalkers revenge and Xmen children of the atom are supported but doesn't work for me (mame 2k, 2k3, 2k3x)....

Am I missing something? Is there something I do or update?

I've read that mame2000 has a noticeably smaller on-screen size. Is that true compared to say mame2003?
You can adjust the screen size. I play NBA Jam TE using mame2000, and it fills the entire screen by default.

cool, will try tonight
I read in an Amazon review a few weeks back that the generic Wii controllers don't use the same wattage as the authentic controllers, which causes them to not work with NESC. I've been looking for that review, but haven't been able to.

What settings do you change in RetroArch to make screen size bigger? Thanks.

Some games are, but some aren't..but as above from Boognish..adjust your screen settings.

I find mame2003 a pain in the butt...some games run normal, some lag very bad to the point they crash.

A couple of testers have had luck with them :

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
    +1
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
