GungHo Online Entertainment will be releasing the Grandia HD Collection on the Nintendo Switch next week, bringing two classic Sega Saturn-era JRPGs to a modern platform. Both titles, Grandia I and II, will feature updated graphics, a revised UI, both Japanese and English audio, and brand-new French and German translations. The Nintendo Switch version will release on August 16th, while the Steam version will follow at a later date. The PC port of the Grandia HD Collection will see the currently-released Grandia II: Anniversary Edition renamed to Grandia II: HD, with both games having Steam cards, widescreen support, keyboard and mouse mapping, and all the aforementioned improvements that the Switch version will have as well.

Will the console versions still have widescreen support? I understand the limitation with customizable resolutions.

I wonder how much better is this PC version of Grandia II.
Perhaps memories are embellished, but I remember playing it around two decades ago on my then potato PC (probably comparable to an underclocked RPi1) and it looked quite well already. How much can it improve? I guess I will have to look for some youtube video or something. (only played the 2002 release)

If you never played those games before, do yourself a favor : play them !
I've never finished second one (but got pretty far) but it was really good. As for the first one, well it's maybe one of my favorite ps1 game ! An rpg about an Aventure with a great A !

    Day one for sure !
Also as a French person, it's quite pleasing to see it in there when second one never got a translation to that langage before. And also nice to see German language getting that treatment too !

The story was kinda weak though. Loved the battle system and soundtrack, but some of the characters (*cough* Dahna *cough*) made me cringe.

I think I got to the last boss in part 3. I might've beaten the other two (not sure).

Really hope they fix the missing sound effects in Grandia 1, the preview build at E3 had pretty glaring audio issues.

What's wrong with playing it on PCSX2? It runs perfectly now, the graphical issues are gone in the most recent builds, perfect 60 fps.
