Hacking Good GBA cart for DSi/DS lite?

Hello, sorry if this has been asked before, but I was wondering if there are any good flashcarts which are able to play GBA games on a DSi.

I own a EZ flash 3 in 1 expansion pack on my DS lite, but I find that to be not as lasting as I hoped, since the provided battery runs out really easily (I've tried changing batteries, it doesn't work somehow).

I haven't been playing my DS in a long time or paid any attention to DS news, but the last I heard, they were developing a flashcart which can load GBA games using the DSi's own RAM, so it doesn't use any batteries. Has this cart been made? If so, I may just get myself a DSi.

There are flashcarts that run GBA roms from emulators, if you want them. Really good for that is the Supercard DSTwo if you are considering getting a DSi. Make sure you get the latest firmware though (obviously!)...

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm a little unsure about emulators though, I mean, is the emulation rate too fast or too slow, or is it just perfect? What about compatibility? I remembered the SNES emulators for the DS weren't brilliant. Also, does the Supercard DSTWO run on batteries?

I don't think it runs on batteries. The only option for the DSi is the SuperCard DsTWO, as the DSi lacks eh gab slot. Speed is near 100%, and thecompatiability is about 90%.

The compatibility rate for the SCDS2 emulators are not perfect but they are very good for most games. The SNES emulator for the SCDS2 is the best you can get for the DS/DSi.

The SCDS2 runs off the DSi/DS battery and does tend to use it up quite quickly.

Do not forget the processor that inside that uses up 25% faster..

Overall, the scds2 is a good choice for emulation (its good for more than that), so if you have some spare money, you won't regret buying it I guess.

Al the games that I played on the GBA emulator of the SCDS2 seem to be working fine, sometimes a little (really little) lag, but it is running good overall.

I'm not really concerned about lag, I'm more concerned about whether its 100% GBA emulation, i.e. just like my EZ flash expansion except without the battery problem, and so far, the responses to this thread have suggested this. So thanks guys, I will probably get a DSi and a Supercard DS Two.

Oh, and one last question, whats the average battery life for a DSi running on default brightness playing a GBA game? Also, is it possible for the SCDS2 to 'write' GBA games onto its onboard memory so I can load games faster? How fast does it load GBA games, for that matter?

you can get an EZIV for your DSlite. It's a GBA flashcart and needs a mini SD card (or micro and adapter). It's internal battery is rechargeable so you'll have no need to replace it.

That sounds awesome! Can you give me a link to a good website that ships internationally? I have never heard of this flashcart before, and I was using EZ Flash V expansion. Is the cart a GBA flashcart, or does it fit flush into the DSlite slot?

EZ Flash IV, as its name says, came before EZ Flash V. Like I said it's a GBA flashcart then it's going to stick out your DSlite. There is a "lite" version though, but I don't know if they're still being sold.

SNEmulDS actually runs some games better than NDSSFC/BAGSFC/CATSFC.

My suggestion is grab a M3 Lite (Perfect) as soon as you see one. It's got RTC, uses a Micro SD (easy, cheaper than Mini SD with EZFIV) and has near perfect GBA compatibility.

Thanks, I already have an EZ Flash 3 in 1, but thats not what I'm looking for because the battery for saves tend to run out in a couple of years.

I'm sure the M3 GBA carts are both rare and expensive in the $80 region. It sounds great but I don't know if you can justify paying that much for it when there are decent alternatives around.

That's true but I wouldn't mind the price if it's built to last. I have a lot of favourite GBA games. Hell, I'm even planning to buy a DSi so I can get the SCDStwo.

just a question, how do you patch pokemon to run on the ez flash 4 since it has no RTC? and what do you miss out because of this?

the RTC is the only thing holding me back from going out and getting a micro + ez flash 4 right now

There's a patch which sorts out the RTC which is here. I remember using it for my EZ Flash 3in1 and it worked but I should note it won't work on Pokemon Emerald.
