I'll be finally getting my Wii sometime this week and I need a little help deciding on what my first game should be. Could anyone help me choose from the following?

Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Mario Kart Wii
Zelda: Twilight Princess (Please don't recommend this just because of the Twilight Hack)
Super Mario Galaxy
Guitar Hero III
DDR: Hottest Party (What? DDR Pwns!)
Pokemon Battle Revolution

Im leaning towards Brawl, Galaxy or Mario Kart, but I want all of these games... I don't know what to get first... (as I don't know if I'll be able to afford more than one game XD)
Also, I already have GCN controllers, so I figured Brawl and Mario Kart would allow me to save some money on a second controller for the time being...

It all depends on how many friends you have (

But seriously...

If you want a long (and very good) single player adventure, definitely choose Twilight Princess or Super Mario Galaxy

If however you want to do a lot of fun multiplayer, choose SSBB or Mariokart

As for the other three, I can't comment, as I don't own them.

Mario Kart is Over Rated and really the same old shit. Why did the leave out at least the OPTION for Double Dash??

Brawl Is freakin fun as hell with HOURS AND HOURS of things to do. Single Player Fun AND Multiplayer FUN

Zelda: Twilight Princess - First Zelda game I didn't feel like beating. I'd PASS IMO

Super Mario Galaxy - I HATE 3D Mario games but this game was really freaking fun. A bit easy to beat but still fun as hell and I look forward to beating it as Luigi.

Guitar Hero III - No DLC so if you have other consoles you may want to pass on this one however the speaker on the guitar kicks ass if you screw up. Then again if your good at the game you'll never hear it anyway

DDR: Hottest Party (What? DDR Pwns!) - Sorry man DUNNO

Pokemon Battle Revolution - This should have been a WiiWare game, not much too it besides to take your copy of Diamond And Pearl into a 3D Realm. Actually I clocked 20 hours on it but I still don't think it was worth the $50 price tag

I think Twilight Princess is a good first game to buy for the wii.
You should be able to find it pretty cheap by now, and if you play it after Mario Galaxy and some of the other great wii games it does feel a bit dated.

And the homebrew is absolutely worth mentioning, TP opens your wii up to a lot of possibilities.

Thanks for replying guys!
You've been loads of help.
I think I'll cross Mario Kart off my list, because I have the DS version anyway.
After reading some reviews and stuff on PBR, I don't think I want it anymore. Its not what I expected...
I'm now leaning towards Brawl or Galaxy.
And maybe Twilight Princess, but I'm still not sure... I prefer Toon Link's design so much more than the Twilight Link's for some reason. I just know staring at the Twilight link for a whole game will bother me (Which is why I mentioned not to only recommend this game because of the hack. I actually want to play it too...).

well I'd definetly would go for Zelda.
I bought it on launch day and only played it for 3 hours...until last week.
At the moment I am hooked to that game. I played 17 hours now and the story is just great.

The bad think is you'll need around 4 hours into the game to get the feel for it. But once you are caught, you cannot avoid playing it :-)

The only two games I insert beside Zelda are:
Wii Fit (every morning for the scale and some workout)
Boom Blox (when my girlfriend is around...she's hooked to that game) ;-)

Twilight Princess was my first game and I really enjoyed it. I recommend getting it with your Wii along with Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

It would be hard to decide now as the library of games has become bigger...MUCH bigger (because of shovelware...)

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE NINJA BREAD MAN!

Gambia, The
Super Mario Galaxy by far, you'd have to be a moron to NOT make this your first Wii game

DDR and Guitar Hero? Come on, you don't need a Wii for that...
Twilight Princess? I prefer the GameCube version. But as .TakaM said, it's cheap and lets you install the homebrew channel...You should buy it in combination with Mario Galaxy

(You'd still pay less than for Guitar Hero 3 alone.)
Mario Kart? Hell no, what a disappointment..apart from the online mode and 16 classic tracks, it's nowhere near as good as Double Dash...which is really sad. It's "neat", but you don't want to make this your first and single Wii game, trust me...And don't even think about standing a chance online with that piece of plastic called WiiWheel. It's much more comfortable and easier just to use the nunchuck or a GameCube controller...You can still twist your arms accordingly when steering, if you really think it's that much fun.

You could also go for Brawl, which is a GREAT game, but the online mode is OUTRAGEOUSLY bad

It boggles my mind how Mario Kart, which was released only few weeks after Brawl, has a so much better online mode, while Brawl's online mode is simply BROKEN. It has huge lags, it takes ages to connect to other players (if it ever happens), there's only few customization options...
Come on, this game had so many delays, why couldn't they bother to fix that?
It makes me mad every time I think about it

So yeah, go with either Super Mario Galaxy or Smash Bros. Brawl...that depends on whether or not you have multiple Wii or GameCube controllers...Brawl is still a great game even in single player, but you're missing out on most of the fun if you're playing it alone (or online

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
