Misc GBAtemp WiFi [Friday] Nights

Hmm... maybe we should create a "Next WiFi night - topic" in which users who'd be 90% sure to be on the next night would post and you could add their codes beforehand so As soon as the night starts you can jump straight to the games ;]. We could also pick 3 random games and create 4 channels on irc (one per game - one for general use/other games) so people wanting to play A wouldn't have their messages mixed with those playing B (Two different games and exchanging FC's at the same time is a bit annoying xD). Heck, if wanting we could even host a mini tournament with main prize being a cute sig "WFC Night Week# X - Game tournament's winnah!" xD.

That's hopefully how I planned on things going here (this is unofficial though and atm JPH and myself are the only active staff around who seem to be getting involved - so there's no guarantee that someone's around to ensure things so well, although I'm sure you can handle yourselves alone

).

Anyway I plan on posting a new portal post sometime on tuesday/wednesday maybe but some things will have to be discussed and settled such as whether the start/finish time should stay as it (personally I think it could begin 2 hours earlier, it began at 10pm in the UK so imagine how many more europeans could join if it's started at an earlier time).

I should be around to have a few games on Friday night/Saturday morning, depending on what time things kick off. If it starts to get busy at the same time as last week, which was around 2am UK time, I should be there.

I'm not too sure, I think the members should have a right to decide what game they want to play when they're on the channel. (i.e. avoid certain players from missing out on playing the games they want, because it's not scheduled for a time when they're able to come online).

I finally got my Nintendo Wi-fi USB adapter to work on Vista by using a virtual machine running Windows XP and the Wi-fi registration tool, so I'll be participating this Friday.

I think there should be themed wi-fi night, if not for the whole night, how about an hour or something? one week we could have a Mario Kart hour, another and so on... Not that anyone has to participate, but maybe this could introduce people to new games they might like.

well if you checked the link posted you'd know that GMT -5 is in the american area. The saturday thing mainly applies to those in places such as Australia and Eastern Asia who are quite a few hours ahead of the rest of us (so for the european countries this should begin around the 10pm time period) although as I've already mentioned, many people showed up well ahead of the scheduled start time on the first "wifi night". So you don't HAVE to stick to that time mentioned although you're more likely to find challengers.

If there's a big demand for this then I guess it could be tried out... (I'm not necessarily in charge of this though, I'm simply helping to promote it) however the current method worked pretty well IMO last week.

Narin put up a FC bot, but you need to put you FCs in the GBAtemp FC database before you can retrieve them.

Quick Question: It starts at 5 PM EST, right? I was looking on this one site and according to my computer's time, I'm in the -4 timezone, but I know for a fact I'm in -5.
