You're system is prefectly fine I often just let them remove that optional thing. It's an annoying thing some sites adds so you can search on them directly through Chrome.

i get an unsafe message from the Chrome browser all the time when entering GBAtemp, complete bullshite.

Yeah, once it was red for me, but I just restarted Chrome.
Oddly, it doesn't say "secure" though, it's just grey.

It's fine in Vivaldi, Chromium, and Firefox for me. It's definitely gotta be something on your end.

Then installed windows security essentials and remove the resource hog called Avast.

That's what I use, never had a single issue.
