how about running it on the DS? will it just not work unless i use the old version?
It seems like on your flashcard it won't work from just booting it in wood, unfortunately. However if you want to help testing from the 3ds then sweet. You'd have to replace the old arm7 version though

the only way i have for booting it from my 3DS is NDS-bootstrap, its either that or the flashcart, which doesnt allow me to launch newer version at all

Yeah, so I figured if you wanted to report about compatibility and help out you could transfer over the latest build of gbarunner to your 3ds and run it through bootstrap. Hopefully the dldi issues with your flashcard will be solved eventually.

For me it also doesn't boot from AK2i(AKAIO) or GW blue (wood).
With a self compiled version it shows the menu on the AK2i but stays on a black screen after booting FF6 and with the posted version on one github issue it shows a red screen on the bottom.
On GW blue it shows test on the bottom screen and there is no file selection.
I SRAM patched some other games that also didn't show anything after selection.
Is the cluster size still restricted?
IIRC both microSDs use 32 kb cluster size.

I used the 1.7 devkitpro installer, is the 2.1.1 version needed now?

well, i wanted to help with the flashcart version, since that way i dont have to boot my console, then TWLoader, then GBArunner 2 and then the game.

I don't know much about compiling them, but you should try to see how the precompiled versions by gericom work on your flashcards, to roll out whether it's gbarunner or not.

I could help you out with the ak2i stuff if you start by tell me what osmenu you're running.

Yeah, I know it's a hassel going through all that. Btw what microsdcard are you using? And could you chech the name code for your flashcard on it's contact pins? If it has one of course.

I use the latest AKAIO 1.9.1 and I was wrong the GW blue works with wood and AK2i doesn't work, maybe because it has ntrboot installed.
I also compiled it again with the 2.1.1 installer and now it boots with GW blue.

Might be because of ntrboot since I use the same on my akaio. Did you read my posts about changing the filename? Try naming it gbarunner2.nds

@Zense I restored the latest AK2i firmware and renamed the nds file, but it is still stuck at test.
I could install an older version of the AK2i firmware as compatibility and speed is better there anyway but as it works with GW blue now I won't do that atm.
Except audio stutter in Sims 2 and FF6 not booting at all it is really impressive already.

That isn't necessary as the latest akaio works for me, using arm7 and arm7wramicache. It's weird that it doesn't work in yours. Do you think the hw rev. has anything to say? I have hw 81.

my flashcart uses a kingston microSDHC with 8 GB of memory, while the 3DS has sandisk SDXC with UHS-1 and 32 GB of memory, i dont think it makes much of difference. as for the flashcart, the name isnt in the contact pins, but its an r4i 3DS RTS from r4ids.cn, bought through nds-card.com so its not a clone, its not the newer plus model btw

I see.. it's been a long time since I tried wood, but do you have like homebrew options that you could disable? Like ingame softreset/menu?

nope, soft reset was actually enabled and you were right, but upon disabling it and testing it gave me the same results with all 4 of the new builds, same on both consoles so it has to be either the flashcart or wood

Does gbarunner have a .sav file? You could try deleting it after having disabled soft reset.

no save file to be found, so thats not the problem either, how about ys menu? does it work with my card? if its brick risk free i can try that

YSmenu is the one I've had most luck with myself, being able to run all versions.
I believe this is where you want to look, but I do seem to remember there being something particular about r4irts cards and ysmenu. I know for a fact that ysmenu and ak2i is a bit cumbersome.

Edit:
@brunocar Here's an explanatory thread about r4i 3ds and ysmenu. According to it ysmenu works fine so just find your files on the first link I gave you. And actually it seems that wood is what has a brick risk for your card :P

that thread you linked was from a compleatly different card, what the post said is that OP had a cart that is not mine, one which came with a timebomb, the first answer linked to the wood kernel i have installed that was made for my cart, but another user corrected him saying that my card's kernel would brick OP's.
im sorry but im not willing to risk a brick with information that clearly contradicts what you are saying.

just to be clear, i have an R4i 3DS RTS gold from r4ids.cn, while the OP of that post had a R4i SDHC 3DS RTS from r4isdhc.com, which is a timebombed cart and uses a YSmenu kernel, i actually had one of those carts and trying to update the firmware was what bricked it, so im very wary of anything related to those carts

Oh? Haha! I didn't know there was such a mess going on with the r4i card "brand". Sorry about that.

most "r4i"s are actually just R4s that were made compatible with YSmenu and SDHC cards and dont actually support the things a real R4i can do, not only that, but some have timebombs that will brick the card so that you have to buy another one, the one i have is one of the few real R4is that are still in production, the other is the R4i-B9S, but that one is way more expensive for the same set of features.
the way of identifying a real R4i is that they are compatible with NTRboot.
