Homebrew gbaemu4ds: GBA emulator for DS(i) (DSi Entry)

Is the graphic better if you use the sc Version and the upper screen on a 3DS

  • I can't do that (have no 3DS) (have not tested that)

It's true if you emulate the GBA ARM instead of making an hypervisor.

I hope ichichfly will succeed to make it run just in time. The main problem is, he don't own any flashcart.
He is coding all of that with desmume. I'm trying my best to help him to test some release on my ievo but it's not really practical.

I still don't understand why TC has not yet sent him a sample ...

What's the Framerate speed like now on the DSi?
Not much different... SUCKY.
I wouldn't expect much more considering the DS is barely 3 or 4 times as powerful as a GBA, and you need 10 times at least to decently emulate something.
Dude, he meant the speed change from the previous version to the current one, tested on a DSi.

I need to decide between an iEvo and a DSTwo, but it's all hinging on GBA!
Dude, DEFINITELY SCDS2. Although the battery is drained faster, it's all-around better, not to mention GBA emulation that goes 45-60FPS, not 4.5-6 FPS.

Still wish they'd update it, though. That, or release the SDK.

They are not capable in updating it, hence why they had the independent programer DarkChen making the emulator.

Well the SDK would still be nice.

Don't you mean Sources?
Because the DSTwo SDK has already been released.

this is a test version of the hyperspeedup version http://www.mediafire.com/?0bxgdfwmfzs7zva

The speed is as I have tested it normally between 150 - 50% of the original gba. The compatibility is very very very low and you have to patch the swi to BKPT there is a patcher in the zip file but it should only be used by People who know what they are doing !

ADD: thanks to Mbmax for the testing

ADD2: it works only in ds mode sorry

ADD3: I will try to make something that it work without patches or at last not so complicated patches.

ADD4: Only homebrew work

ADD5: the bootloader patch patch the start location detection in the bootloader so that it work as it should if not patched the programs sometime have problems but the patch is not working on every homebrew.

Ok.

Seems that i can't allocate more than 524288 bytes with plasma.gba. If i use more i get a white screen on my iEvo in DS mode and this text on the touch screen :

Code:
gbaInit
gbainit done
everything done (0212C000)

OK I get some more memory free and added a the "Load and auto detect" button so everyone can patch roms now (easy).

ADD: map.bin is not working every time

ADD2: http://www.mediafire.com/?yl1gjgvvatlhq9p
Thanks ichfly. i'm able now to allocate more than 1MB of memory. Tried 2752512 bytes and still ok.
Great step forward with this new version.

Next step is improve the CPU emulation and fix the DSi mode ?
I wish to be able to allocate more memory.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
