i really have both worlds, i have 3 gateway and 3 n3ds, i use cfw when something cfw does that gateway doesnt, in fact everything is easier with gateway than with cfw, cheats are awesome with gateway and the use of the 3ds files is great for testing the game before installing, if ppl didnt reversed enginereed the gateway launcher cfw wont be possible, so the ones that stole first was the cfw devs, but in the end is preference on what you want to use, if you dont like using gateway, well dont use it, but having both worlds is the best thing in the world

If it were not for GW, the cheap kids who can't afford a GW would have nothing to complain about while they wait hours for their games to install.

Installing CIA's is sooooo slow... I think they are jealous. Until their is some CFW that supports native .3ds, gateway will be superior in that regard, it is a pretty large benefit.

I hope GW will let us boot both SysNAND and EmuNAND from their payload, so you don't have to go to the GW menu first then hold B when launching GW.

It took 3 minutes for Fire Emblem if to install once I fixed my fucked up SD card. Installing CIAs isn't really that slow.

I honestly have no clue. Maybe I'm remembering shit incorrectly (like maybe I'm thinking of how long it took to install DLC) but even now it takes way less time to install then it did before I got it working correctly.

Fact: With GW you copy and you play.

Therefore that is at least 1 major pro to GW.

Those of us with GW, can use either solution. We get the best of BOTH worlds. CFW without GW do not.

fact:you have to boot an emunand and not an updated sysnand unlike a9lh users which fuck up your boot rate/sucess.
Also, I think installing 80 cias at a time in a night(when you sleep ya know) or installing the .3ds in the sd and have to boot the emunand(failing at times due to the crappy boot rate) and even having to go to that shitty rom selection menu. Also, cias are right on the home menu which doesn't even come close to the rom selection menu. You can't argue with that convenience

Y'know, one thing I don't like about CIAs is repacking romhacks as CIAs. I've NEVER been able to do it correctly, and I've tried so many times, too.

Multiply that by the life of your 3ds and with CIA's if you play allot of games, you spend allot more time waiting then probably playing. Especially if you have kids with multiple units.

I use Sky3DS+ with Luma3DS with offline-only/exploit games. I install CIAs for online games, of course. I got it before downgrading was a thing and I kept it. the ROM loading is really nice and quicker and also saves space on my main SD card. I'd probably recommend it to those who want ROM loading but don't want Gateway.

I think people forget that gateway is a custom firmware. A DRM locked custom firmware, but a custom firmware nonetheless. I use both gateway and luma3ds because I can. Plus gateways cheat engine is better than anything else available. If I didn't have the card for like 3 years now I wouldn't buy a new one though.

Can we just drop it? Why are non-GW owners in this thread anyway? GW owners are looking forward to an easy way to use their flashcard together with A9LH (and I guess in most cases Luma3DS). Those GW owners that are still on older entrypoints don't even care as it doesn't concern them. A9LH/Luma3DS/GW means: use GBA and DSiWare games from SysNAND, same for everybody else. Games you want to play online, either use GW (.3dz with your own private header) or install the .cia like everybody else. Scene releases you just want to try out real quick: use the GW. Game sucks? Alright, erase next time you got that microsd card in your computer. Like it? Ok, go buy it. Then either just keep it on your GW, or like everybody else: install the .cia so you don't have to lug your cart collection around.
