Hello,

I used to play with gateway, yesterday I backup everything I had on my SD card to my computer and installed luma, everything went fine but I had no saves, so I tried recovering one (Disney magical world).

it didn't work, I tried using jksv but it failed importing the .sav, then i used checkpoint and renamed my .sav file as a game.bin then restored it but nothing, the game is acting like there is no save

so could you guys help me on this ?

thanks !

Btw, i saw some posts thats said that i could install gateway even tho i upgraded my firmware, the thing is i changed my internal sd storage, i have the old one on backup but should i just paste some important files and the original guide ( gateway saves to luma ) on this website should work ?

If you want to do anything with Gateway save data, then you will need your Gateway cart (or the assistance of someone else with a Gateway cart). There are many threads about this. Renaming the files will not do anything.

This sentence is very difficult to understand.

How did you back up your old SD card? If you had an emuNAND on your old SD card, then that is something you cannot back up and restore just by copying and pasting.

If you did not back up your emuNAND, then you will have to create one from scratch, as in https://gbatemp.net/threads/setting-up-gateway-luma3ds-on-11-17-guide.640070/ .

I did not have an emuNAND, i was playing on an old firmware. i installed luma like a few days ago.
I will explain my situation clearly :

My old setup (pre-Luma):

  • SD0 (4GB) – internal SD card
  • SD1 (8GB) – swapped depending on game
  • SD2 (32GB) – swapped depending on game
  • Old firmware + Gateway
What I've done so far:

  1. Backed up all 3 SD cards
  2. Formatted all 3 cards
  3. Used the 32GB card as my new internal SD
  4. Installed Luma3DS
My planned next steps (please confirm):

Is everything I'm doing correct so far? Am I missing any step?

Once everything is set up, can I just copy/paste my old save files (from my backups) onto the new internal 32GB card? Or is that not enough?

Thanks for your patience — I just don't want to mess this up.

I think that's right? Maybe someone else will chime in.

You will need to use your Gateway cart to do anything with those save files, as described in the second thread you linked to. (You can probably use Checkpoint instead of JKSM.)

  • SD0 (4GB) – internal SD card
  • SD1 (8GB) – swapped depending on game
  • SD2 (32GB) – swapped depending on game
  • Old firmware + Gateway
By "internal SD card", are you referring to the SD card in your 3DS? And the other SD cards are the ones you were using in your Gateway cartridge?
