Hacking Gateway "raw game" question

So a long time ago, before Gateway had multi-rom support, one had to use something like Win32DiskImager in order to write a game to the MicroSD card. This feature still works even in 3.0.4/3.1, but it here's the thing: it doesn't appear to automatically make the game show up anymore (in 1.x the game would automatically show up when a raw game was on the MSD, right?). If anyone has messed around with this, have you managed to get the game to automatically show up without needing to pop up the multi-rom menu (if you open the multi-rom menu with a raw ROM it says 'raw game found') on Gateway 2.x or 3.x?
