"Willing to screw over" makes it sound like they intentionally want to make their customers unhappy. Do you really believe that a company that makes hundreds of thousands of laptops want to make every customer unhappy?
Or is it more likely that their tech support team are just badly trained?
Also, if a laptop breaks down (or develops serious faults) within their warranty period, you should be free to return the laptop to them for fixing/replacing. If you're worried about it happing beyond the standard year warranty, get the extended warranty. Tech support may leave something to be desired in some companies, but they still have to stick to their obligations in their warranty.
