I seem to fail at this greatly-can anyone suggest a good loader for GC backups? 2. is it possible to just burn GC backs to regular DVD?

2) Huh? If you wanted to know if you'll need Mini-Discs, no you don't. DVD-R, 4,7 GB will also work.
