maybe more of another clone than a port, but I think we need an Elite-like.

you know, like all the other Elite clones: space rogue, privateer (1/2), freelancer, X (1/2/3), Vega Strike--there are more, I'm sure. That touchscreen would be perfect for a ship computer interface. DS is really the first game system that can *properly* handle this type of game.

Definately not thinking a straight port of Elite's primative engine... Call me picky, but I've gotten used to textures on my polygons. Quirky's rewrites of elite on gba were pretty darn nice, but ds is capable of more, and while elite's graphics, controls and trading engine were revolutionary, they're also 20+ years old.

On GBA, I feel we really missed out commercially too. Wing commander and big mutha truckers came out of the same shop--combine those and that's pretty close to Wing Commander: Privateer... Though with out the DS's touch capability it all would have been pretty clumsy.

as far as direct homebrew porting, the only freebie I know of is vega strike. It wouldn't be much, the engine would have to be completely gutted and rewritten for our slow little system.

Punch-Out Arcade. It's already a dual-screen game. Should be easy to port for someone who knows how to code.

No, Starcraft isn't open source.. I knew it wasn't possible, but it would be the best thing ever if it was

I didn't know if there were any open source RTS games, so I did a little search.. Found a few..
