Sora> Yeah, the "Waku Waku Boy" vs "JoycoLand" issue... The original team had all dialogue refer to the place as "JoycoLand" as that was the decided name at the time. I tried to stay consistent with that throughout the game but now that you mention it I wonder how many of each I can find in all of the text. They should all be the same.

As for the graphics, for some backgrounds, you can get away with redoing them completely since your "search" option limits you to a list of objects. In some backgrounds like the President's room you have free roaming search and I would have no clue about how to change what the selectable range is for an object unless it is palette based. However, if you want to change the size of something, ask. If it isn't a free roaming search location that may be possible.

Edit> The outside of CX Industries is fine to change I think (the size of the board can be changed without issue)

From my end, last night I went through all of the main dialogue in the game (review) and did in fact see a couple files with Japanese left over (related to the introduction of challenges about the shooting game). Also, the first few files of the game were done using a different tool from what I use now and I'll have to fix up a couple files so that everything is the same source format. Then I'm going to go through with a fine tooth comb and fix up the spacing and positioning, cut off words and spelling issues I see thanks to the lists made by the testers.

Yeah, those Triotis taunts will have to wait, but I did put them all in English and know what I want them to say.

Finally, I will post the cartridge graphics later, maybe tomorrow, that need to be done. I also need to extract all those magazine and manual images...

Arino's business cards. The says his name in the middle (Arino Shinya) (with the name order reversed)
http://aaronin.jp/shashin/arino2/km_bg_scene13.cnscr.png

While I don't have the skills to help directly with the graphics, here's this picture of one of Arino's business cards in English.
Edit: I know this isn't very important to note, but this isn't a picture I took, I just snatched it off of a Google search.

You'll probably want to change the "Retro Game Master" part to either "Game Center CX" or "CX Industries".
Also, "Yoiko" is the more common/accepted (at least among fans) spelling/romanization of "よゐこ", the comedy duo Arino is a part of.
Thanks to you all for making the translation, and I hope this can help!

That card's really cool! Where did you get it? Did it come with the game?

Edit: I know this isn't very important to note, but this isn't a picture I took, I just snatched it off of a Google search.

Looks like I put that edit in too late, hehe. Sorry about that.
From what I can gather, whoever has that probably got the card when Arino signed their game.

Hmm, you mean to change the card so it shows like in this picture?
The Ace Detective games take place in Japan, it wouldn't make sense, methinks...
But it is a nice suggestion.

Sorry, P1xel, I'll let you tackle the graphics, I didn't notice you were doing some.
I made some before I checked the thread again, use any you think fits better.

(Anyway, it's Pix3l not P1xel :P)

Note: I updated the last post with some new images, check it out :)

True that, sorry, I was in a hurry.
I'd rather let you do them all since the ones you made look pretty ace.
If you need my help, let me know which ones you won't be making.

Quick question. Who runs Tiny Cartridge and how can I get a hold of him? I've been quoted over there a bit and wish to talk to them about the project.

I've got a mountain of text to conquer but it actually isn't that bad or slow. Testing is the slow part but hey, there is that turbo key in Desmume.

I know this game inside and out now though so it shouldn't take so long.

Sorry to just throw a link at you and walk away, but this pretty much tells you all you need to know.
While it seems there's not simply one big mastermind over the site, if there is one, it's probably Eric Caoili, since he runs the site's Twitter account.

Thanks to you pals! :D
Anyway, I have done all the pics, now let me know what you think about guys, and maybe where you think they need to be retouched.
I made the changes in the original NES/Famicom era style, hope you can enjoy it :)

Those look excellent, thanks!

Okay, I passed the Manual and Magazine graphics to those most likely to be able to do it while I work on the text problems.

The text is all fine but will take a bit to test, as I mentioned before.

In other news, I have had a glorious graphical catastrophe with the Triotos DX title image. I'm actually not sure how to fix this. There isn't any OAM table for the color overlay to work with. I'm not sure how it is taking the B&W source and making the color magic happen. Anyone have any ideas? In any case, I wanted to share the "glory" before bed. It looks like that headache I had this morning.

Edit> Here are the Haggleman tiles if anyone wants to make the English letters for the doors. (Edit> The tiles to change are the black characters on white tiles with the green border on the bottom; イ ロ ハ ニ, etc. That last yellow one 宝 means "Treasure", but I don't know what you want to put in its place... a treasure chest icon, maybe?

By the way, I think the "Treasure" door is an unused tile maybe.
I saw it is already present in the first game but not localized:

I wonder what Treasure does, maybe it just gives you some bonus points.
Maybe its a score multiplier or gives you a random power up.

Until we know, I kinda like the japanese symbol in it (left untranslated).
It has certain mystique.

...

Also, tried to put a little chest in the tile, but the results were less than inspiring.

Well, instead of "takara" 宝, you could put:
- a star
- a dollar sign
- a gem/diamond
- a coin

What about that sequence of kana? (イロハニホヘトチリスルウヲウカヨタレンシ... I know, I fail at katakana)
Does it hold any significance? Any meaning?
Because replacing it with ABCDE... bugs me for some unfathomable reason.

Assuming the Haggle Man game mechanics carry over from the first game, the order of the letters does have significance: entering 3 doors reverse-alphabetically (e.g. D-C-B) will restore your health once per life.
I think there was something with entering the doors alphabetically as well... was it instantly powering up?

EDIT: I think reverse-alphabetical is the only special order. I can't find anything else with door orders on Google, and instant power-up is triggered by a cheat code.
