If you're even just thinking about tinkering with your Switch, the very first number one absolute primary initial top important (did I stress that enough?!?) thing to do is a COMPLETE BACKUP OF YOUR NAND in a safe place. From personal 3DS experience, this will one day save humanity.

how is this different than a full "initialization from the main system menu? Would a full initialization destroy logs of errors etc.?

So with this I could theoretically backup my 3.0 nand, update it to play on latest firmware, and when something comes from 3.0 (ie Atmosphere) i can restore my original 3.0 nand...?

Only if no fuses are burnt
Or you can use SX os 1.2 to update which has fuse burn protection

is that confirmed?
that if i boot up sx os and update via a game, my fuses won't get burnt?
i understand sx os patches fuse burning/checking, but i assumed this was only for booting, and not for upgrading.

As long as you're running SX os with burn protection you're good

i found the thing i read yesterday that made me question you

Need someone to confirm but the patch was because when you booted in it auto burnt if you'd upgraded the other way. Doing an update via Nintendo or gamecard will still burn fuses

so when i see two conflicting things, i ask!
