FidelityFX Super Resolution, better known as FSR, has been an important application for video games running on AMD hardware in recent years, helping players with perhaps lower specs to get a bit more of performance out of their favourite games without sacrificing much of the overall quality of the game itself, allowing for better framerates and good image quality even at lower resolutions.

Today, AMD has shared the news that their newly developed version of FSR, FSR 3, is now available as an open source project based under an MIT license for game developers to include into their gaming titles, with compatibility with DirectX12 and Unreal Engine 5, and while Vulkan is currently not supported for FSR3, AMD mentioned that they are working on bringing support for it.

Currently, FSR3 is supported in games like Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield and Starship Troopers: Extermination, and with FSR3 becoming open source, we can only expect this list of titles to grow and expand to more popular franchises.
