what about slot-2 users will there be a way to have it to say like "please insert your slot-2 device for loading/saving" I got a SCSD for DS Linux and don't see much of a reasson to go and buy a SCDS 1. So yeah just something for use slot-2 users.

That would seem impossible since the DS memory is 4MB, and it would load songs from the directories, and it would have to switch out a lot. Try and get a Slot-1 fast. There are a lot of good ones.

EDIT: I can only think of using the button hack.

heres an update right now im working on using txt files. once ive figured that out i'll release my first actual version (not a demo) with a song (smells like teen spirit) and the ability to change that song (i'll include a guide on how to make songs with the release). im not quite sure yet how to make long notes so the first version might not contain long notes but i cant be 100% sure of that yet. in the first version you will probably only be able to have one song but that will change in a later version after my first version is released i will enter it in the contest and hope for the best. this project has been moving VERY FAST and i would like to thank everybody for all the help so far. you've all made this project possible.

I noticed that SSBR uses sprites that look pretty good. It is open source, so maybe you could see how they did it.

actually i just checked it out and to my surprise its sprites were 256!?!?!

Sorry you don't like the new sprites. The 256 format makes them look odd. Also, were not fixing what is fixed, we are fixing what is ripped.

We don't want to use any ripped sprites in the game. This will help us to not get a C&D.

Since it looks like we can only use the 256 file format, could someone please make or find a pallet of colors that work in MSpaint when it is in 256 format. This would help me to make sprites a lot faster. Thank you very much to anyone that can get this to me.

And yes, I tried looking on google, but all of the pallets I found changed colors when I converted them.

By the way, I made the pallet.

Is it possible for you guys to add the 3d perspective of the way the notes go down like in On Tour? Having the notes go down vertically might confuse some people when they transition from On Tour to FretFury.

Thanks very much! The pallet looks great. Could you make me a grayscale pallet as well?

I'm really busy today. I just got done updating my wardrobe for only $150, and I have to go to baseball practice later. Hopefully I will have some time later, so I can start making some sprites. See ya later!

EDIT: After playing with 256 for a little longer, I think I can still make some pretty good sprites for the game. I will have to completely change how I do all of the shading effects on the sprites, but this new technique makes them look a lot better than before. Here is an example, a completely redrawn fretboard.

I'll do my best to explain how I did this. To stretch the use of the few amount of colors (the black part of the fretboard only contains three different colors), I mixed the colors at as small a scale as possible to emulate the shading of the fretboard on the left. Even though the middle fretboard only contains three different colors (in the background), the way I shaded it makes your brain think there are more colors, kinda like how games on the original gameboy are shaded. Anyway I hope you like it.

*note* For those of you that don't understand all of this, the fretboard on the right is of an image quality that is just too much for the ds to handle. The one on the right is what the ds does to the high-quality fretboard. This new fretboard (middle) is of the same quality as the one on the right, but looks much better. The middle fretboard will not lose any quality at all when put on the ds.

I'm still kinda busy right now, but I'm going to redraw any sprites that don't look very good in their current state. It should not take me very long (the middle fretboard took a lot less time to draw than the one on the left).

EDIT2: I noticed that the new 256 images don't lose any quaility when I post them here, so there should be no need to email you the sprites, wazmo.

EDIT3 (Where is everyone?): Ok. I just made a new version of the guitar. I think that it looks even better than the first one I made. Here it is. I didn't remake the strings, because doing so wouldn't change the way they look too much. Wazmo, you do still have the screens with just the strings right? I'd like to see the strings move in the next demo.

I'm not going to change the fret buttons or gems, because they look fine already. I'm not sure if I'll do more today, but if I do, I'm going to make the menus. Please tell me what you think of this new style of shading. Thanks.
smile.gif

nice those sprites are amazing - about those gem sprites can you make them abit thiner cuase i mean the dont fit the fret buttons but this is a suggestion you dont have to do it

Hey everyone! I just got finished with the menus. I redrew the title screen so that it would match the new select screen. The images are in 256 format, so they will look exactly like this on the ds. Hope you like them.

@wazmo
I hope these new sprites make it into the next demo. I want to see them in action.

@moonlite
The gems should match up perfectly with the fret buttons. I use the same circle as the base for both.

I'm really glad that everyone likes this new sprite style. I think FretFury is going to look great. Well, I'm gonna be back tomorrow. Please continue to tell me what I need to draw. I check back later.
