Is it possible to play FLV files on the DS ? I guess not, because of the resources available on the DS, but maybe there's a FLV format that is simpler to render with 24fps and low quality audio (MP2 32kHz 64kps) ?
Anybody have a project going on for this ?

Thanks!

You'll have to convert it to .dpg

I've done it tons of times but strictly speaking, .flv is not supported as is.

Yeah, I know about the DPG stuff, I've converted videos to this format tons of times. Since most of my sources are Flash video, I was thinking if there was something that could read them right away without conversion.

Anybody else ?

Sorry, you're right Doggy124, i forgot about this one.

Yes, there are other formats, should not be worth mentioning, D3V videos. Some sort of "flipping images" movie. Technically, it can be run by the DS but Im removing it from my list of playable videos because its just too laggy. Can hardly be called a movie at all.

Its a file format created from the flashcart(i've seen here in Canada), Games n' Music.

But DPG is the only one DS can render good.

There are others that can run decently (DSM, AVI, etc) but DPG is probably the best at the moment.

I'll put it this way: No.
More elaborate explanation: No FLV player for DS. Maybe possible, maybe not (never looked at how FLV works. FLV has problems on many PCs, so I doubt it will work on DS. So no, no Youtube.

Yeah, my phone plays .flv files localy & streamed off youtube, (along with every website embedded video, as you can add codecs with plugins, so i can play xvid mpg1/2/3 etc.) but yeah, whats your point? thats NOT what he was asking.

Ontopic - Your stuck with converting if you want them on DS.

Unless, you buy another product like the PSP or you can buy a phone that does it all, & at least it'll have its use as....wait for it *shock* horror* your daily phone so you know your stuff will always be with you (hte phone comes with in built 8gb), my screen is as big as the NDS screen so its not like its a super tiny screen, my phones also got tv-out so you can play it on a tv if you so choose (the new slim PSP also as tv-out) the choice is yours if you buy a new fancy product, just make sure to think about other uses of the new product so its not just used as a media player.

In order to put .flv videos on your ds download it from youtube
then download vlc media player from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
open the .flv video from the player you downloaded and installed on your computer
in the player click the "file" tab
click the "wizard..." choise
click the "transcode/save to file option then the next button
click existing playlist item then next
click the check box for transcode video and choose the wmv 3 codec
do the same with the audio but with the mp3 codec and click next
choose asf and click next
save the file as *filename*.wmv
have it convert
convert that file to whatever you like. I convert it to d3v but thats just because i have max media player

... You could just convert to wmv, and then convert TO DPG
