Does anyone have experience of this?

I got my Switch internally modded by some guy so it boots straight into SXOS, but 3 weeks on, it started having issues and powering off, even though it was sat in the dock. So I reinject payload, plug it in, it works...then I notice a fast flashing green light on the dock. Google tells me this is some kind of connection issue - reinject payload, unplug cables from doc, plug it back in, it works - but this happens increasingly, so I think maybe theres an issue with the dock.

In the meantime it was charging fine with the Nintendo USBC charger straight into the unit - but today this doesnt work either. Google tells me the the charging port could be fried or damaged (normally kids being rough with them) - but TBH it had never come out the dock until a month ago, and I've always been pretty careful since when plugging it in for the payload etc. It's only 6 months old, and clearly now it contains a modchip I can't send it back to Nintendo.

FW is 5.something, and I'm not sure what kinda chip he used. All my cables etc are official...not sure if any other info is helpful. Currently I have no power at all to check anything.

Appreciate any assistance!

Yeah - he's pretty good, I've bought modded Xboxes and stuff from him before - not sure how much help he can be though. My problem is, I live temporarily in Bangkok and he's in England, and I've no plans to go back there for at least 4 months, which is a long time to go without a console!

I feel bangkok has a cheap microsoldering store somewhere like shenzen does, I could be very wrong though.

Googleing there might be a place in "fortune mall", I feel theyve probably installed a switch modchip or can check for a loose connection, but be sure they dont rob you/charge you almost nothing. Maybe someone here knows what this "blinking green light" issue is caused by.

Yeah I'm sure there'll be somewhere here that can do it, good suggestion. Another option is I can get some small screwdrivers and open it up and see if I can see anything...or maybe that's not such a good idea.

I guess ideally I'd know what the problem was before I took it somewhere, in case of language issues (I dont speak Thai - not a problem for many places, but these little computer stores...) and have an idea what the going rate is for a fix.

A loose connection is possible but I've really not bashed it around much, and its general deterioration of the ability to connect over the last few days perhaps points to something other than a lost connection (which would be 'on' or 'off' or constantly intermittent, rather than working less, working less, working not at all. Maybe.

Thankyou for this PyroGoat, some useful info. I've sent these links now to the guy who did the mod. Prior to this, this is the last info he sent me (I Hadnt updated FW and SX). Hard to believe I could need to charge it for days but I'll try this before going down the 3rd party repair route:

Whats the console actually doing now?
Have you updated the console firmware and the sx os?

The charging port wont be fried unless you put anything in it you should have.

The chip we put in is just piggy backed on the usb port and its the same as using an external dongle but inside.

Docks do cause problems so worth borrowing one to test. Ive never had a faulty switch yet but dozens of docks.

Sounds like its RCM dead which basically means the battery is super drained and dead and not enough for it to power chip let alone console.
It needs to go on charge for a few days then payload sent via pc to kick it back into life.
Dont worry if it doesnt show charging as it wont in rcm mode.

Once back alive update everything.

i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
