Hacking Flashing a retail DS cartbridge

Is it even possible to take a rom and actually put it on a real DS game, overwriting the game itself with the rom?

I know you can extract and put a save back, but can you do that with an actual game?

ROM stands for read only memory, so I would assume that the answer is no.

I did try it with a worthless game and no good results sorry guy!
