Note: Trolls, idiots, smart-asses, and like-minded people will be ignored.

This is a petition to localize Fire Emblem: Kakusei, the 13th Fire Emblem installment, into North America. The idea is to get enough support that when it's time for this to be localized, NoA can already see the support it has, instead of waiting for a long time to see what will happen or trying to get a petition going almost 2 years after the game was released when the game and/or system it is on is old (not that the 3DS will be old for a while).

Sign, tell all your friends. We should try to use one petition instead of multiple so we can focus our efforts. Furthermore if someone wants to take this over for me and manage it, I'd appreciate it, since I am not actually all that interested in doing so. Furthermore I'm not really into taking suggestions or doing things a certain way with this so if you really have a strong opinion, find some other way to share it. For me, getting a large number of signatures is good enough...

Thank you and have a great day.

Fire Emblem is a game where you control people, and then you kill people, and then you finish the game and it's like "wow!"

Gahaha, if you make a vague enough description of something it can sound as stupid, boring, or generic as you like XD

As long as you sign it though, I don't particularly care.

They're for completely different games >______________________> Why would I post an FE12 petition on an FE13 petition topic anyway? That's counterintuitive. Furthermore it's hopeless to get that game localized, it's WAY too late, unless they already have plans (which doesn't make sense given how long it's been since the game's been released in Japan--about 18 months I think) I really don't see them localizing it. That's why we're starting the new petition for the new game much earlier--before the game has even come out--so we don't have the same problem as we do now with FE12 where the only hope for a translation lies with fans (funny enough I am part of that fan translation XP).

The point was, if there was a lot of interest to localize FE12, it would automatically make sense for them localise FE13 (expecting a similar level of consumer interest). The DS isn't dead yet, so a last ditch effort might not be in vain. It's more intuitive, if anything. Besides, all you had to do was say "Oh, by the way, anyone wanting to get behind FE12 localisation, here's another petition". It's also possible localisation began on FE12, but ditched due to lack of funding/resources or whatever. A successful petition could persuade them to finish the project. But, meh.

I was aware of the translation you're involved in, your involvement in it and your latest post regarding the petition, but I didn't sign it as it would be somewhat fraudulent of me to do so – I'm not a US citizen and have no consumer relationship with Nintendo of America. I did sign the FE12 petition, however.

日本語を操らせなさい。これは一番確実方法しかいません。(Just learn Japanese , that's the most reliable way ) .
Or at least that's what I've done . Just 12 months before I couldnt even read a single Japanese word , now I can read a novel just fine . And these things like " Will it ever be localized at all " or " I wish it would be localized " forever vanished from my vocabulary .
Just face the reality that most Japanese games are heavily Japanese-oriented for their local market , it'd rarely be localized unless it's extremely popular .

I so signed these, I still have the original Nintendo Power Magazine Guides which were put out for the first GBA Fire Emblem and FE Sacred Stones.

Back then, the ads contained therein showed just how much Fire Emblem is adored in the Western Countries, including US, Europe and more. I need no localization (per se) just a reasonable translation thank you) The black Tshirt premiums with the (multi red) Fire Emblem Logos made available in exchange for subscription were awesome love to see those again...

I am an avid chess player, rated about average but I obsess on it daily over morning coffee, it gets my mind in the right direction for the day...and my experience is that FE is a somewhat 3d chess variant (using people) and instead of moves for pieces we have stats/weapons/spells/gear that alter the benefit of a given movement. I only figure their best moves given thier present stats and location, gear etc...

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
