Final Fantasy XV PC Demo now available to download

ygfxS9I.png

After releasing a benchmark that allows you to test how well Final Fantasy XV will run on your computer, Square Enix has now put out a demo for the upcoming Final Fantasy XV PC port. The demo will cover all of the first chapter of the game, letting players test-run the game prior to official release on March 6th. Completing the first chapter should take on average 2 hours to complete, although it should be noted that progress made in the demo will not carry over to the full release. The install size of the demo is about 20GB, and the minimum requirements to run it are listed below.

  • MINIMUM:
    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows® 7 SP1/ Windows® 8.1 / Windows® 10 64-bit
    • Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-2500(3.3GHz and above)/ AMD FX™-6100 (3.3GHz and above)
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 760 / NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 / AMD Radeon™ R9 280
    • DirectX: Version 11
    • Storage: 100 GB available space
    • Sound Card: DirectSound® compatible sound card, Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos support
    • Additional Notes: 720p 30fps

If you're interested in trying out the demo, and you have an Nvidia graphics card, be sure to grab the latest GeForce drivers, as those have been updated to include official support for FFXV. At the time of writing, the demo is only available on Origin and Windows Store, but a Steam release should follow up by the end of the day. If you want to force the Steam demo to download, you can run the following command on Windows steam://install/671210 which will add it to your download queue.

100/155 GB for a bloody PS4 to PC port? Seriously? Oy vey that's ridiculous.
What's ridiculous is you viewing it as a port..

What's even more ridiculous is you still don't understand why the huge filesize..

Whatever, still too bloody big. Comcast has bandwidth caps and that's like what, 1/4 of what they allocate each month (pretty sure the cap is still 500 GB/month). That's pure BS, thanks, Square Enix. I'm appalled at people
actually defending this.

Now you've split your argument here... It's also roughly 1/10..

Game filesizes only get bigger as time goes by.. Engines become more advanced, graphical fidelity is better. You go from a compressed version on consoles to pure uncompressed textures. You should work with raw photos to better understand how this works. Hell, even FLAC vs MP3 is something to look at.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

funny thing is the main game itself is a demo
What's sad is this is true.

The game was even oversized in PS4, while i was playing it i was wondering all the time "why this game size is so damn huge?"
the texture was bad, loading take forever, hell even conversation is slow, and at the end it's not a complete game too.

I won't argue with that. I actually agree. The game was a bit big for what you were actually able to do.

That's still too much bandwidth used given how Comcast is stupid with caps, but whatever. And no, I can't change ISPs thanks to them in this area, but yeah. I know about compression, I'm not an idiot. And I'm not going to use the 4K version, too damn big.

You're everywhere now!

Anyway, yeah, data caps are an insult to power users and are mostly artifical these days for monetary gain.

It looks gorgeous on my high-end rig, but as expected, not even close to the "ultimate" performance.
I was surprised how well it runs on a PC from exactly 2 years ago, and it keeps a steady 50-60FPS all the time.
I highly recommend choosing the Home Theater option(especially if you use headphones), and in case there's frame drops, just turn off the NVIDIA stuff.
And in honor of the release of the demo, here's one of my favorite screenies I took while playing:

Just in case someone missed the video in the nvidia driver update comments. :P

To be honest, before the driver update, it runs better than I expected for my system, but jesus it does get hot. (Have Air condition or a fan and some liquid crystal cooling) :wtf:

Where does it say that? That's only the recommended GPU, nowhere does it say you need that to get 720p30. I call BS.
