Final Fantasy XIII-2 Announced!

So what does this mean for Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Type-0? Are they getting canned, or are they just getting pushed to the side while Square complete this one i wonder. i quite liked Final Fantasy XIII, sure the hallway was irritating, but it was still a half decent game so im kinda happy to see this, kinda....

If they were getting canned, why did SE release a new trailer for both as well as a release time frame for Type 0?
It means nothing, only that the FNC label expanded.

Man I hate the FF numbering system.

It's just roman numerals... but arabic numbers for when one of the games gets a direct sequel. Like FFX-2.

I meant how they can't keep the damn system straight. if they just kept the single-numbers for single-player RPGs and used something separate for the MMO games and other spin-offs it'd be better. Then there being sequels wouldn't be as annoying when it comes to keeping track of the numbering.

This series is being milked so bad it's almost worse than Kingdom Hearts. I'm not even joking right now. If a game is horrible (and in my opinion, XIII was an absolute piece of crap) giving it a sequel won't make it better. Especially when the game took four~ years to develop and they announce a sequel in one. I haven't seen Square make a good decision when it comes to Final Fantasy in... forever. If this game is finished before Versus or Agito I might hang myself. I'm gonna go play like, Pokemon or something.

If a game is horrible you can release a reworked version OR a sequel to rectify all the wrongs done with the previous iteration! According to SE's PR it will exceed FFXIII in every way.
By the way FFXIII-2 is supposed to come out this year in Japan and in the next Winter in the west. Versus wasn't even given a release window in today's event.

You're like over a decade late to the punch. Pretty much after FFVII they started pooping out more spin-offs than can be imagined.

And it's far, far worse than KH is milked. I mean KH does get milked but it's still had like 2 main series games and 4 spin-offs. Final Fantasy has had like... 14 main series games, 6 remakes/ports/"advanced" ports at least (well there's I, II, III, IV, V, and VI which all got remakes off the top of my head, with IV getting another remake), and more spinoffs than I can count.

But yeah, I switched over to liking Western RPGs myself. I pretty much realized that Western RPGs were superior when I finished Mass Effect. I haven't seen nor do I think I'll see a JRPG game with that level of awesomeness for a while.

I didn't play any FF until after I played KHII. But I've played the majority of them, and I'm aware of all those spin-offs, ports, and remakes. The RPG that got me into RPG's was a WRPG (KotOR), and I guess I thought FF would be on that same level of awesomeness but nope. Picking up Mass Effect 2 on PS3 tomorrow, high hopes. Higher than FFXIII.

KOTOR is another good example of why I believe WRPGs > JRPGs.

And if you have a Xbox 360 or good enough PC it's probably better to stick with Mass Effect on those consoles. It's much better to play the first game (even if it is a bit clunkier than the second) so you can experience the decisions in a more personal way instead of going through a lame comic to make them. But if you really don't then the PS3 version should be fine, it's just disappointing to lose out on the full experience of the first game.
