They literally stated that some Amiibo's will not have permanent shelf life and will go away after a time, which is exactly what happened here with the 3 Amiibo's listed above.not news, we knew this ages ago. and secondly Nintendo haven't ruled out producing more of them later on.
they're making lots of money from the Amiibo and they're selling out really fast. (I have checked a few times and they only ever have a couple Pikachu left)

I guess they realized the potential profit to be made after the Cubic Ninja and GameCube adapter fiascos.
It's artificial since it's planned, actual scarcity would be if the world ran out of the type of plastic the figures were made of, or if the factory burned down. Planning a very small very limited run is creating scarcity on purpose.i'm also not getting the people talking about artificial scarcity. you know that this would only make sense if they were to keep producing those amibos eventually, right? like this, its actual scarcity
