CIAs. CIAs only. Hell, CIAs are the only thing you can technically "install" to your 3ds (other than A9LH or menuhax, I guess). Everything else is loaded in its own special way (.3ds = Gateway launcher, .3dsx = HBL, etc.).

you can, but if you already have cfw, it's useless.
sky3ds can too tho, but it doesn't make it superior

Technically, yes. But you don't "install" them, you drag them onto a flashcart (which you must buy for around $80 USD).

You don't install .3ds format. And you'd be better off using CFW with a cia installer or use the freeshop.
