Hacking Question Factory Reset to remove traces of sx-os

Is there any way to remove the traces of using homebrew/the sx os, such as through doing a factory reset? or is the logs still there?

Even if your console is banned, you can still download/purchases games from the eShop so long as your account is not banned. So really, a ban just prevents you from pub-stomping in Mariokart.

Oh, yeah it doesn't, go figure. A NAND backup is much cleaner than a system format.

Also what does this achieve? I keep the NAND backup somewhere safe? Then when would I need to use it again?

You do not need to perform a NAND backup prior to using SX OS. There are 2 main reasons it is good idea to make a NAND backup.

1. In case something happens to your Switch, recovery without this is nearly impossible so it is always a good thing to have on hand especially when hacking the console
2. If made prior to using SX OS or any hacks, it can be restored prior to going online to mitigate a potential ban. However, this is not an effective long term solution as eventually you can wear out the Switch's internal eMMC this way

Not really. The only way to have a clean console is to restore a NAND Backup from before using TX. Factory Reset only deletes any previous console information and apps, but do not go as deep as where SX touches. I do think cleaning logs doesn't help a whooole lot really, from what i've heard, whoever uses TX's products are prone to bans regardlessly of what they try to avoid a ban, but i am not sure if this is really true, so take it with a big grain of salt.

The SD card lol. The whole point of backing up the NAND is so you can retrieve it without having to physically open your console.

You know your computer's hard drive? Imagine that stuffed inside the console. But unlike your computer, Nintendo does not give us access to that. So we hack the console and dump it externally so we have a copy of it in case anything happens to the original. The NAND also contains some console specific stuff in it so everyone's "hard drive" differs slightly.

Trying to mitigate a ban by restoring a "clean" backup is a bad practice, unless you haven't touched internet after backing it up, the logged information will differ from the ones Nintendo has on their servers and will most likely get you banned.
