I read somewhere that if you have an EZ-Flash 3-in-1 inserted in your DS while you play, your DS will discharge quicker. Does this actually happen? Or does it only drain power when you are using the Opera browser/playing a GBA game/rumbling? Thanks.

Any cart you have plugged into the DS will drain some power even when it's not is use. The 3-in-1 isn't too bad in this regard, but it does still drain some power.
So are we talking like 1 hour less time per charge? or more like 3-4?

I would say not even an hour. You would hardly see much of a difference unless you have the RAM/Rumble feature enabled and in constatnt use, otherwise its energy use hardly has an impact. I don't see a difference in battery use with or without the cart.

This is an interesting topic overall. There's definitely battery drain, but I've always wonder how much exactly. There's got to be info out there somewhere. I'll give a test myself once I get my DS back from repair.

(Come on, everyone! To the GBAtemp lab.)

I didn't even notice the difference myself, but I don't really play my DS enough to have a good sense of how long the battery will last normally. I'd say the difference is probably less than an hour, but that's just a guess.

I never use DSL without 3in1 before, so I don't know the different.

But back in slot2 days....

SC slot2 run DS game (so it not using its ram) but it still drain much power.

Yup.
I used my filter cartidge for the DS lite for ages because i didn't like the GBA games sticking out.
Then I got my 3-in-1 and have noticed it drains the battery, but not too much.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
