Exodus at the Escapist: The End Is Nigh?

So apparently the parent company of The Escapist has fired their Editor In Chief Nick Calandra today, along with Jack Packard, for as yet unknown reasons.



Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw and several other contributors have resigned in solidarity.



And since between the three of them they created around 99% of Escapist's output, this looks like the end of the Escapist.

What happens next remains to be seen.

Juicy drama. Lovely.

Huh, maybe that's why there wasn't a column on the latest episode of Lower Decks.

It's had its share of spicy drama in the past, but really there's no denying that I probably wouldn't be visiting the site at all if not for Zero Punctuation. (I kind of miss when Yahtzee had a written supplemental column rather than the Extra Punctuation video series.) I even went so far as to buy a T-shirt.

He's sure been at it for a long time. I was starting to wonder what would stop him.

I'm a little surprised this isn't getting more attention here? Zero Punctuation has been consistently entertaining. Maybe people have other things to worry about.

The final review for Sonic Superstars (which would have been out today) is available on Youtube as an unlisted video, so you just need to find the link. It's a decent sendoff.

No more ZP - what. That sucks.
Even if Escapist does get a new host, it won't be the same anymore; and who knows what Yahtzee himself's gonna do next? Hopefully it'll still have the dry, sarcastic wit ZP's known for, with the constant humorous put-downs.

Looks like the staff that escaped The Escapist (ha!) made their own casino game oriented content space thing with blackjack and hookers on Patreon, and it's called Second Wind.
